internal combubtion engine to run on compressed air
« on: March 28, 2007, 04:25:15 PM »
agin i did this many many years ago

in fact i built this in high school

it will run on 30 lbs of air

it agin is simple

no oil no heat just air

it worked verry well too

i have left this alone for a long time but if you want to build it i can tell you how

simply take a 4 stroke lawn mower engine

and do 1 thing to it

take the cam shaft out have some one weld 2 more lobes on it so the cam i dubble lobed

put it back togather

put the piston a tdc and drive air in the spark plug hole and  pesureize the crank case

bascily all you are doing is moving the air around

with the cam being dubble lobed it allowes the valves to open and close on every up and stroke of the piston

agin verry simple the only problem i had at the time i built this was to control the input air

so i just blew it in all the time

ran great and for lubrication put oil just a little in with the air

not much more to come on this

i had an engine that was finished

but have moved so many times since then and it has become lost agin not hard to build

is

With compressed air as fuel, you're again limited by the laws of physics. When pulling out too much energy, the decompressed air will cool down quite quick, and left there is no pressure to run the engine. And you are depended on external heat to make it run further. Before that you must use plenty of energy to compress the air. One important thing to consider when having plans for a free energy device is o look at the energy required to make it. How much will this process damage rivers,  and the air with pollution?
Solar energy is a source of energy, which source is the reason why everything else on this planet is running. Why take a roundabout way, when you have limitless of energy, free, from the sun itself?

i built this peticular engine when i was 15 years old i am now dubble that and i have done nothing more with it just thought that i would post it to show that it could be done easly

@Low-Q

Ease up on the man, I had an idea similar to that back when I was a about the same age up until I was about 18 or so. I didn't think about how to control the air going into the cylinder at the time though. To me it was a wild idea that i hoped that I would be able to get to work but after time lost interest in it.

verry nice
i will be working that way somtime in the future i have a much better understanding of magnetics and how they can be used  ;)

Looks like someone has already worked out the bugs on this idea.
Check out this link:

We all need to work together to get this technology into all countries.
Wind and solar power could be converted directly into compressed air instead of into electricity.

happy to see it

it is simple to do

that was a great idea on the wind to air pressure

Hi innovation_station,

the miracle isn't a compressed air engine, the miracle would be a compressed air engine with a self-filling tank.
See: www.aircaraccess.com. Air engines were built in the past in America and Europe.

1st I was thinking that the spark gap in water deal would make a great air compressor to run an air motor  of course I will try this as I already started to build a test chamber to test the power or those plugs  Chet PS the idea being a self filling tank

Some dude made a working car that ran on compressed air a long time ago.. Wish i could find a vid.....

Well here is one.. But not the one I was talking about...

They used to have a much for informative web site a few months ago now it has turned more into an investment site. Use the web archives to browse
