Hi folks,

check out my last magnetic experiments a la Johnson. Looks amazing....

sorry. my mistake. kind of looked like a battery there from this computer.

so how does this thing work? are you making this open source?

It is based on work of Howard Johnson:
http://www.cheniere.org/misc/johnson.htm (http://www.cheniere.org/misc/johnson.htm)

I learned how to deal with magnets from here. Check out magnetic gate here.

To understand the principle quite a lot, but not easy to explain with few words.

Hi Jinis,

I would like to try this experiment (the first video), can you tell me how you assembled the magnet on the piece of wood and also on the car.
Are they, n-s-n-s or all the same pole.

Thanks  Joe

Great idea testing with the mini car.  Wonder if you could use one of those circular ( or oval ) Hot Wheels tracks with your gates over the track to see how much continuous motion you can get.

regards,
gr

If you do try the Hot Wheels track idea and have magnetic gate problems (sticky spot problems), perhaps the discussion group I started here about that will help spark some ideas:

Hi Joe, take two quader magnets and place them in 90 degree to each other. north pole of 1st magnet in the front of the gate and 2nd north showing to the car. I placed on the car north pole in direction to the gate and put small screw on the top of this cyl. magnet.

But George I really don't know if the sticky point exists here .... Need to try out ...
