This self induced emf you are speaking of, the back emf (counter emf would be more accurate), occurs whenever a current is applied to a wire or coil, and also whenever a wire or coil produces a current caused by a changing magnetic field through it. If you manage to harness that bemf then you are truly gifted IMHO.

A distinctly different phenomenon occurs when a current that has already established a magnetic field around a coil is abruptly interrupted or decreased. The magnetic field collapses and as it does so it induces a current in the coil (that also has it’s own bemf) and this current is produced without any additional external electrical input. This self induced current is in addition to any that was supplied to the coil before hand. For some reason people have a hard time distinguishing the difference between these two phenomenon.

Successfully adding this additional emf with the initial current input through coil can result in true gains delivered to a load.

Great explanation Cadman..

Here I am charging a 12V battery from the negative terminal of a 6V battery.

Attached is the diagram. I believe it clearly shows that this is not from a collapsing field.

Hello everyone.

Recently I just came across an explanation about how inductors really work and found it pretty enlightening, so i'll leave the link here for thoose that would like to see it.
Hope it helps.

WOW...  This video is Induction Teachings Of The Highest Order...  Thanks for this..

It teaches that "Classical Induction Theory" is ridiculous.. And how Faraday's Law is "garbage" when it comes to measuring Self Inductance"..   And how Maxwell's equations are useless.

In my mind, overunity may ONLY be possible once people understand how an inductor really works.
