Obviously minimal output..  But huh....

Well that was fascinating. I know what I’m doing after Brekky this morning. Have you tried on the quad pancake? Thanks for that. Subbed to channel

Ya I saw a subscriber close to your name and poked through some of your video's..  I'll be subbing to you also.

I was thinking- it might not be the sound, but the tiny speaker magnet causing it.  If so, might also be cool..  You can wrap a coil around a powerful speaker and easily tune to resonance..

Just tried it by sticking my phone in my 1k gen stator. Same effect. Interesting. Resonance for it was about 16k measuring around 3v on the scope. Thanks

Nice..  I do think it is the small coil / magnetic field on the speaker causing it.  when I position my phones speaker horizontal inside the coil so the North and South poles are aligned correctly the amplitude is the highest surpassing 5 volts. I can get a LED to just be noticeably lit.

Should try attaching a magnet on the cone of the speaker and vibrating that at resonance inside a coil..  May be worthy to experiment with the motion along with the magnetic field the speaker produces..  If a coil at resonance is really doing what the scope suggests (shifting the phase), maybe the moving magnet in the speaker will be assisted by the resonance coil.

To answer your question- Yes I sat my phone on the quad pancake and it did work.  But i think resonance was too high for the app and the output was lower.

I'll be messing around with this a bit longer..  I like the idea that we are introducing movement inside the resonance coil.

looks like a lot of windings, large air core..   if the windings on the flat areas is able to move with the sound of the phone, then possibly the earths field is the source of mag field.   If you have a disk magnet, neo 1/8 x 3/4 and try to stand it up on edge on a smooth surface, watch what happens. The earths field is quite prominent. Its a compass without the damping of motion.  Now to find out an idea of how strong the earths field is all around us, just about anywhere you are, bring a similar magnet in closer from a distance in order to negate the earths field, at the point of distance that the second magnet allows the compass magnet to not be influenced by the earth.
This distance and the fields of the mags affecting each other, should be a representation of how the earths field strength actually is in a way.
Same with the coils, you may be able to introduce near by magnets to the coil faces to see if you can negate the effect thereby confirming the earths field as the magnetic source.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gOO7OHHeMM
Now if what Im saying is relevant, then we can say that the earths field can definitely influence certain things that we play with magnetically.  If you find the distance where the second magnet negates(cancels out) the earths field influence on the compass, then flip the poles of the second magnet at the same distance and there should be more influence on the compass to want to orient itself to the earths field than if the compass magnet is influenced by the earth alone.
Nice demo.   ;)

Also try different orientations of the coil in relation to the earths poles to see if there is a difference.   Flip upside down to see if there is a phase change(would require second trace on scope with a microphone to directly compare the phone sound output to the phase of the coil in diff orientations.
If there are definite differences with orientation change then it is the earths field.

I plan to try some other things as suggested.  But for now I just did a few more simple tests..

A peizo hooked up to the signal generator produced a few dozen milivolts.
The signal generator wires shorted produced a few dozen milivolts
and even the signal generators wires NOT Shorted produced a sine wave.

So far any device connected by an electrical conductor that has resonant frequencies going through inducts to the coil..  Some much better than others..

Basically I guess any and all devices have some sort of magnetic field if they are powered by the resonant sinewave of the coil, and the coil becomes such a good antenna at those frequencies it can pick up the smallest signal even from a straight piece if wire.
