Title: Bladder Gravity Wheel
Post by: Lunkster on July 18, 2022, 05:23:37 AM
Bladder Gravity Wheel

This gravity wheel is theory at this point.
I have not had a lot of experience in gravity wheels.
I want to know if this design has a chance of working?

This gravity wheel has several bladders connected to weights in the wheel.
The weights can swing from one stop to another stop  in order to either
compress or expand the bladders.  The bladders are connected together.

The weights on the left side of the wheel compress the bladders pushing
liquid into the blatters on the right side of the wheel.

The weights on the right side of the bladder slide to the other stop to
expand the bladders. This pulls liquid into the bladders.

This action causes more liquid to be on the right side of the wheel.
More liquid means more weight on the right side of the wheel.

Will this work?
Or not.
Will the little movement in the weights offset the liquid weight
difference between the two sides of the wheel?

Before I try to build one of these, could someone give me
some insight to this gravity wheel design?

This Idea is not new. Here is Besslers drawing of a similar concept.

There are other Bladder/ Bellows versions, some underwater.

I have seen others nearly exactly like yours as well.

Quite frankly, it won't work. In a gravity wheel, the weight needs to be lifted, not to be translated across. If you push it across, it has to fall to rotate the wheel, then needs lifting.

Thank you for your input:

I like the links you sent me.

I was hoping the weight on the bladder on the left side would
push the fluid up to the other bladder before the bladders
on each side of the wheel were horizontal.  The weight on
the right side would create a suction to pull on the liquid
before the horizontal position as well.

But seeing that other people have tried similar wheels is
enough for me not to build one.

Thanks again for your input.

No problem.

Gravity wheels are an artform. Many peoples opinions differ from that of mine. IE, if you have any doubts, you should try experimenting to confirm or deny theories.

All the best
