Actually it doubles the mmf, not necessarily the flux. That depends on the material BvsH characteristic and the shape of the core.
Actually, that's what I meant. I do understand what you are saying, I just am not always good with the correct terms. I'm learning! Thanks again for your help.

It's the resistance I'm questioning.
  Resistance is only important in DC.
However each impulse has rising edge and falling edge- and that is AC
The length of that edge can be significant to the performance.
At that point, impedance is the factor of importance.
Impedance is made from inductive and capacitive reactance often but not always making resistive component of impedance not important
