This is my three stage water battery. Its three stages given the colored led light needs 3 volts to operate.
You can see the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE-xsFLh8C8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE-xsFLh8C8)

The benefit is to sell an e-book:

Hi conradelektro
For me the benefit is the knowledge of knowing how to do it in case of disaster if I were to survive. It just seems like we are overdue for a polar shift or a solar flare such as the Carringnton event which I think was in 1860. I realize if it is the Yellowstone coldara that goes I wouldn't have a chance, but in case I did survive one of the other events I do know how to use a gassifier to run the generator but after the generator dies and you can't get parts then you better know how to generate power either with batteries wind or water or it's back to carrying buckets of water from the river and going to bed when it gets dark. Who knows I probably wouldn't survive anyway but just in case I like to think I might have a chance.

Also the benefit is the water battery supplies non stop power for many years. I ran the pendulum on the live cam for ten years straight on a water battery. I did clean the electrodes at least once a year and add new water when it evaporated to low. But thats a ten year run on a water battery supplying power, so thats the benefit. By the way switched the led light to a christmas light on the three stage water battery. The video is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_mSIg3ymOk

The very thought of generating electricity from water scares me...

It should not. Given the world's first hydroelectric project was used to power a single lamp in the Cragside country house in Northumberland, England, in 1878. The only problem with hydro power is its owned by huge corporations and not the people. Water batteries puts the power of water back into the hands of the people. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr-nB_qf9GwlpYTDtz11xdw (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr-nB_qf9GwlpYTDtz11xdw)
