right.  and of very high voltage and i believe of almost unlimited Hz. Thz or above.
point field strength vs low (wide) field strenght and electron vs hole.

this effect shows well with a wimshurst electrostatic generator.
positive point emission is very different that negative point emission.

also in series with a leyden, leakage would be prevented or minimized maybe.
quenching through magnets though, i would try to avoid that way ,and somehow use the "little tube" . ie plasma ionization runaway.
