Downtime of overunity.com
« on: December 22, 2006, 11:56:06 PM »
Hi All,
I had to disable the forum last night and today until now,
cause the AdMod was making too many queries to the database
and this hit the limit from my hosting company.

So I have now found the problem and changed a few settings and
also integrated a script to block nasty crawlers, etc...

I hope this helps now and it will be okay for now.

If there is any problem again,
please post an answer in this thread.
Many thanks !

Regards, Stefan. (admin)

I believe that the real problem is the payload to
all up weight ratio. This is what is causing the
overloading and bandwidth difficulties.

I clicked on a link to a message which consisted
of two small paragraphs - about 500 bytes of
useful data. The page download was 120KB.
There is a fundamental software design problem
which is not going to just go away.

Paul.

Hmm Stefan do you know of this, but once in a while I guess the bannes are of an adult nature.
Not really the way to go on a public forum I think...

And no this screenshot is not photoshoped.

Hello everybody

Wait a minute...

This very web site : overunity dot com is free. Is it not? You do not have to pay any extra fees to read the messages, see the pictures, download the vids and post you own stuff.

Obviously 'somebody' (guess who?) should be spending some of his money and some of his time to get it running right.

So, if it is sometimes temporarily 'Downtimed', where is the problem?

Best

BTW : many thanks to Stefan Hartmann for having suggested to use servage.net!
