After the .5 kilograms has dropped 1 meter the entire 4.5 kilograms has a velocity of 1.476 m/sec.
This is (4.5 kg * 1.476 m/sec) 6.644 units of momentum.
If .5 kilogram had 6.644 units of momentum it would have a velocity of 13.288 m/sec: and it would rise 9 meters. From d = ½ v²/a
Only the .5 kilograms was dropped; the center of mass of the 4 kilograms did not change.
Transfer all the motion to the .5 kilograms and the energy increase is at 900%.

.....is related to a temporary gravity torque difference of an Atwood machine (two equal arms of the pulley , two unequal hanging masses ) and the proposal of a possible continuous ("self" working...) gravity lever (two equal masses , two unequal arms) , with a single variable arm.
Simply...from a wheel(pulley) concept to a cyclical variable lever general idea.
