Belfior, good information. Thanks for sharing.

After reviewing the articles, including Marett's optical setup [bricks to hold his optical table
down - furnace cycling - WTH?], and recalling Silvertooth's experiments at that time;
Silvertooth's results are still not in any way jeopardized by Marett's pseudo replication.

In fact Marett agrees with Silvertooth's experimental results in his concluding comments:
"Silvertooth's results are real, but his conclusions were wrong," as stated in the Forbes
article, then goes on to suggest: "This doesn't mean the aether doesn't exist, but for
now it is clear we don't need an aether to explain Silvertooth's experiment."
OK then... what ever you say, right?

The Forbes author hit the nail on the head when commenting: "In a broader sense,
this story is an excellent example of the striking difference between science and
pseudoscience." I'll give the science to Silvertooth and the pseudoscience to Marett.

There's also too much ancilliary evidence, both from the Silvertooth experiment and the
related coincidences, GPS error for one, and from other related observations, to seriously
dispute the existance of aether (or the like).

Not saying the Einstein might have been a bit off target, so to speak, but the existance of
an aether seems to make more logical sense when attempting to explain a lot of things!
IMHO anyway.

Even Einstein said there must be an Ether

"Recapitulating, we may say that according to the general theory of relativity space is endowed with physical qualities; in this sense, therefore, there exists an ether. According to the general theory of relativity space without ether is unthinkable; for in such space there not only would be no propagation of light, but also no possibility of existence for standards of space and time (measuring-rods and clocks), nor therefore any space-time intervals in the physical sense. But this ether may not be thought of as endowed with the quality characteristic of ponderable media, as consisting of parts which may be tracked through time. The idea of motion may not be applied to it."

The problem is that his ideas were taken over by others and suddenly we are where we are now. Still living in caves
