Title: Metglas amorphous metal (non crystaline) where to find it?
Post by: clearchrome on December 22, 2018, 02:47:53 PM
Hey people,
Im trying to find myself some Metglas amorphous metal as it seem to be the common key for many effecient and overunity devices.

Just to clarify, they are Chineese knockoff that pretend to be Metglas equivalent which are only there to fail you in your experiments as they are cystaline in construction.

I was wondering is they are any known consumer  products that uses these type of amouphous cores which I can salvage to save myself some of the high cost bill.
Ex: I heard that old Hybrid Buses uses there type of cores, but I can't find any in my area.

I went to Alibaba but nothing really interesting for unit ordering.

Ebay has a seller that has BIG Cores which sells in the 100$ range with shipping! from taiwan.

Im more looking for ribbons as I can shape it to my liking much easier

I found a russian seller asking for 20$ for 35cm strips...its too small for me.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Metallic-glass-foil-Amorphous-alloy-foil-Ribbon-35-cm-x-5-cm-x-0-0035-cm/192639036029?hash=item2cda2e6a7d:g:~-QAAOSwdudbg8-Q:rk:1:pf:0 (https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Metallic-glass-foil-Amorphous-alloy-foil-Ribbon-35-cm-x-5-cm-x-0-0035-cm/192639036029?hash=item2cda2e6a7d:g:~-QAAOSwdudbg8-Q:rk:1:pf:0)

any suggestion where I can look for a good quantity of ribbons at a reasonable price?

It depends on where you live, look on youtube the old scientist was selling it was last April he is in Albania somewhere was in London.
with that stuff, you really need to collect it if you can, by the way it was a good price for the amount you get enough to do a wrap around a Tesla core.
Let me know if you get it!

I have similar rings from the era of the USSR. I tried to make transformers on them - I did not notice anything interesting. They look like iron powder yellow toroid core from computer power supplies. But rings of amorphous iron are better, less loss and less heating.

 lot (5 pieces/lot)
Package Size: 10cm x 10cm x 10cm (3.94in x 3.94in x 3.94in)

They are very small, I don't find them practical for load power generation in my application.

thanks for the link.

C CORES you do know it's dead slow in an application like LF a few Hz range as you are charging the micromagnets in its core, to stow for a Tesla coil. Check things out for your self don't trust to luck on people who might well know less than you! Blue ferrite could well be a better bet.

Some manufacturers claim that cores, produced by similar technology, can operate up to 10 MHz.  ::)

Hehe, Cores are like girl, there is one for every application ;), Im not sure about the blue one...

This all reminds me of the 1984 DUNE movie , "He who controls the spice controls the universe"  ...In our case, "He who control the Cores, control's the OU".
