Hi

One image says thousands words - check out the image !!!

Multimeter reading shows AC Voltage !!

Metal type used is aluminium foil !!

Any electronic equipment radiates more or less electromagnetic waves.
Most multimeters are not designed to measure RF voltages but are sensitive to them. They can even indicate voltages much higher than the real ones, or have their measurements disturbed, for example if a capacitance is measured in a large ambient electromagnetic field.

Voltage on its own doesn't mean much. viz: the Wimshurst machine or rubbing a comb on wool or hair and picking up a scrap of paper.

Power is voltage x ampere.

Wow..i never knew this was possible..does the Ac voltage increase with the amount of heat produced by the PC?? My laptop tends to overheat a lot probably due to the processors small capacity..This is so creative.

Hi an update :

It turns out that it is the alternating magnetic field of the computer
that induces an ac voltage into the aluminium foil pice !!
