Spli Positive System with Led Charging Feedback

Hi all, decided to pickup a proper 12 volt led to try this experiment from debunkified's yt channel.

I'm using an ecosmart 12 volt ac - 4.8 watt led bulb.
12 volt tractor battery as input source and charge battery.
600 watt boost converter set at 20 volts output.
The battery was resting at 12.585 volts.
I ran a 2 hour test with this system and the resting voltage the next day is 12.62 volts.
When under testing load, volts ranged from 12.39-12.37 volts.
Just finished another 1 hour test run and it is blipping from 12.37-12.36 volts at end of test run.
Amp meter from input of boost converter to battery shows .44 Amps - 12.37v or 5.44 watts input.
Output from boost converter is 20 volts - .65 Amps or 13 watts.
Will continue testing to get a feel for this system.

HI, sky i wish you success . To prove that this system works is easy,
just get the voltage booster started with a battery, then the output
charging a 10 farad capacitor and lighting up the led. Then through a
double pole double throw switch just configure to start and run .

Hi seychelles, thanks for the reply and the video link, I will study that video soon.

The system does work seychelles, the battery is recharged with about 90% of the original input energy and that is not including the work done in the led bulb, which is the same watts that is charging the battery.

So around 180% minus battery charging losses or 1.8 COP, using these particular parts of course.

Though the true energy in the system is 239%, though not all of that is accessible as work or power.

A more efficient boost converter and more efficient battery or capacitor as you are pointing out would improve these numbers.

Your setup sounds very interesting, I would like to understand it. It is okay that you use a run and a charge battery and a boost converter and a 12V LED lamp.   You drive the input of the converter by the run (tractor) battery but how exactly the LED lamp and the charging battery is connected into the circuit is not fully clear for me.  Could you draw a block diagram or a simple schematic?

Hi gyulasun, thanks for the reply.
It is only using just 1 tractor battery at the moment, though I'm not sure that is the best way, maybe a separate charge battery would be better.

I'm still testing, Currently in the process of charging with digital charger to a specific voltage, then disharge with system, then recharge to know what was used in the battery.

Edit: hmm, i get 98.4% efficiency, and that is when using my lithium ion 3 cell in series pack.
I will make new test and use my 12 volt power supply to run the boost converter and use the lithium ion as charge battery and see if anything changes.

Thanks for the nice diagram on your setup. This now reminds me to the Youtuber 'debunkified' circuits and the long debates in the comment sections under his videos. He forever stated that the output of the boost converter i.e.  its positive and negative output rails provide the "load" current what was flowing via an Ampermeter directly connected between the converters positive output and positive input where your LED is also shown connected above.
See this link where I showed a scema he may have used in one of his videos, with his measured data:

So he claimed overunity because 12.28 V x 37 mA input is less than the 12.31 V x 692 mA output...   

He did not accept back then that it is the 30 mV between the two positives which drives the 692 mA through the internal resistance of the Ampermeter and not the 12.31 V output voltage. There was no load connected between the positive and negative output rails of his boost converter and this is true for your above setup too.

If you have a second DC ampermeter to use, then try to insert it at the very positive input of the boost converter. The first Ampermeter may measure the current taken out directly at the battery positive or you can measure the LED current directly in series with one of the LED wires. The 3rd current then can be calculated from the two measured current values (or just use a 3rd meter).  I mean the node where the battery positive,  the boost converter positive input and the LED wires meet in a common point.   IF you have only one useable DC ampermeter, then use it in 3 steps, inserting it at the correct places.

Looking forward to any new measurements you may arrive at in the meantime

Yes, i jumped the gun, the results were not anything out of the normal, with the parts and arrangement shown.
Though, the other thread, with the 12 strand coil charger, at least does show true extra energy into the charge battery.
Will focus more on that set up, thanks gyulasun.

Hi all, I'm trying a new circuit, one that includes capturing the flyback, while splitting that with a 12 volt led bulb load.
I have the 3 cell lithium ion battery packs made to be quickly rewired to series or parallel, for swapping positions.
Another benefit, is in using the higher charging efficiency, lithium ion cells.

Hi all, while testing this latest circuit, i was not happy with the results i was seeing, so i am running the 12 volt bulb directly between the positives and that is showing better results.
So getting ready to start a fresh test run with that setup.
I have a 7 watt 12 volt led bulb i will try first.
The difference here is, I've never tried this type of split positive setup with the lithium ion cells and the lower voltage led bulb.

Hi all, the results so far are looking interesting.
The average watts used at any given moment over the testing period so far, is around 10 watts, since it is varying after each test run, as the input side progressively lowers in voltage.
The current flowing through the 12 volt 7 watt led bulb is around 900 milliamps.
I tested a single lithium ion cell to determine the amp hour capacity under a given load, I used 300 milliamps current to discharge the cell using my digital charger.
The cell was able to give 600 milliamp hours drained down to 3.6 volts, which is the voltage I have been draining the input series side to or 10.8 volts for the series battery pack.
That is around 2.25 watt hours available per cell or 6.75 watt hours per battery pack, when drained to 3.6 volts per cell.
The experiment has now run for 3 hours 16 minutes or 32 watt hours equivalent and the experiment is still not finished.

Though I am questioning if the input side, series battery is actually giving 6.75 watt hours capacity, since the current flowing is 3 times or 900 milliamps, compared to the 300 milliamps current drain used to determine cell capacity.
Since each cell in a series battery uses the same current, the actual capacity using this load, may be around half.

Well then, so far, if we assume each battery is giving us 6.75 watt hours capacity, which i doubt, i think it is less than that, then we have a total capacity of 13.5 watt hours, to run this setup.
Well, so far, the setup has used around 32 watt hours and the experiment is not finished yet, still has at least 2 or more good run times left i would guess and each run time down to 10.8 volts on the input side, has been around 50 minutes duration.

Hi all, just wanted to add something else.
I forgot to mention, that before starting the test runs and battery swappings, I discharged one parallel wired battery pack for 1 amp hour.

So around 3.91 watt hours was drained from one of the lithium ion battery packs.

That means, since each battery pack contains around 6.75 watt hours of capacity or less, based on the 3.6 volt level discharge per cell, that is 13.5 watt hours minus 3.91 watt hours.
So we only have around 9.6 watt hours of capacity combined, to slosh back and forth in the split positive, swapping circuit setup.

I ran another run test, it ran for 22 minutes this time, so not much left to slosh back and forth, though I will test until a run time is less than 10 minutes and end this particular test.

So far, the circuit has operated for 4 hours 12 minutes or 42 watt hours and the 12 volt-7 watt led bulb load has used around an average of 7.5 watts throughout that time.
That is 42 watts divided by 9.6 watts for a total COP of 4.38
And the led bulb load used around 31.5 watt hours for a useable load COP of 3.28.
And technically, I can probably still squeeze at least another 30 minutes or more of run time.
Do these results sound correct to you folks, I've given all the data i have recorded in this particular experiment, what are your thoughts about this.
Gyulasun, would like to hear your opinion on this, did I miss something here or am i not taking something into account.

Hi all, I was recharging the battery packs and realized something.
When I drained 1 amp hour, from the battery designated to be the charge battery for the start of testing, I forgot that each cell in the 3 cell parallel pack, was drained of 1 amp hour or around 12 watt hours total.

The efficiency numbers I posted are too high, It's more like 1.85 COP total system efficiency and 1.4 COP led load efficiency.
I will make another test, this time, only discharging the intial charge receiving parallel battery of 4.2 watt hours or 350 milliamp hours shown on the digital meter.
Which, at an average of 4 volts per cell, that is 4.2 watt hours total from the parallel lithium pack.

Very good you spotted the mistake, I cannot be a fortune teller all the time...  :) (fun intended)

Hopefully your continuous, ardious tests give you valueable results that when repeated again, remain dependable and hopefully above unity.  Then take a rest and think over the whole setup, intial and final data.
