A very wise friend of mine told me  As you have often noted, these better battery papers appear weekly. Then we never hear of them again because of an engineering problem, or a toxic/expensive ingredient. Lets hope this story pans out as they started from the ground up and have come up with impressive results.
Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago and at Argonne National Laboratory have designed a new lithium-air battery that works in a natural air environment and still functioned after a record-breaking 750 charge/discharge cycles. Their findings are reported in the journal Nature.http://revolution-green.com/new-design-produces-true-lithium-air-battery/

Mark

I really do not think people know just how low the energy density of even the latest high end batteries is.

To put things into perspective

Lithium Metal (Li-Po, Li-On, Li-Hv) has a specific energy of 1.8 MJ/kg

Timber= 16.2 MJ/kg  ;D

Sugar= 17 MJ/kg

Fat  (animal/vegetable)=37 MJ/kg

My cup of coffee (white with 2),has more stored energy than the $400.00 lithium ion battery in my Ebike

As i stated above--i really do not think people know just how poor our batteries of today are,in way of how much energy they can store.
