Title: Recharge by changing electrolyte - Electrolyte flow battery.
Post by: Paul-R on April 22, 2017, 12:57:40 PM
New battery -recharge it by changing the electrolyte.   Electrolyte Flow Battery or Flow cell battery.

A flow battery is a rechargeable fuel cell in which an electrolyte containing one or more dissolved electroactive elements flows through an electrochemical cell that reversibly converts chemical energy directly to electricity (electroactive elements are "elements in solution that can take part in an electrode reaction ...

i.e. to recharge the battery, you drain the liquid and fill with another.

The question is: Can we get it together to build one for ourselves?

"The question is: Can we get it together to build one
for ourselves?"

Take a solution of Na2SO3 + NaOH + formaldehyde, shove two electrodes inner it.one electrode a piece blackened nickel and the other electrode a piece blackened silver.hold the silver close to the surface of electrolyte so it can access air.the only thing u ever haveto replace is the electrolyte after a long while

Interesting - What is the output?

Is there a way of recycling the used electrolyte?

The output can be pretty strong if you use rongalite c in solution or any highly reducable species compatible with alkaline environment and you have to play with those electrodes depthwise until you get to the max.rongalite c solution won't be easily recycled after air oxidation so must be disposed and replaced.rongalite is a potent h2 donor
