Sine wave generator circuit

Hi, I have been interested in making a sine wave generator circuit since i don't have the funds to buy a function generator right now, and I wonder if someone could please recommend me one that is good, and not too complicated as I am really not experienced in this field yet.

I wanted to experiment with coil lc resonance.

The XR2206 chip makes a great low cost signal generator (1HZ-1MHZ) suitable for beginners. If you have some basic soldering skills, you can buy a complete kit for about $10 US:

You have to look either for a obsolete integrated chips like XR2206 or search for variable Wien bridge sinewave oscillator ( in this case you will need more electronic parts like dual-pot for example but the sinewave is very pure , without distortions)


Btw I'm looking for help to amplify such signal using simple one transistor amplifier capable of with standup to 100V. Could somebody post a solution ? I know that many such high current higher voltage transistors have low Hfe so the amplifier maybe need additional transistor circuit to make it work properly ?
Could someone propose working circuit with 2n3055 transistor or other one ?

That's very nice. I think it would be much more usable with dual channel output with ability to change phase relations between signals. 


Anyway to accomplish that easily and cheaply ? (I know i can buy some costly generator)

I suppose that you are not a skilled electronics person. Therefore it will be very hard for you to build a usable thing with dual output. Even if you could build something, it will not be cheap.

Therefore I suggest that you buy a usable function generator.

A good example for about 500 - 600 Euro:

The price sounds high, but if you started building, a few hundred Euros are easily spent before you have something usable. The price for a function generator is mostly driven by the screen and the many buttons and knobs to make it usable. And building something with a good screen and usable push buttons and knobs is more or less hopeless.

I have a one channel 20 MHz function generator similar to the "PEAKTECH 4060MV DDS function generator 10 µHz - 20 MHz with 10 W power amplifier" which costs about 350.-- Euro. And I like it.

And you will also need a fairly good oscilloscope which will also cost you around 400.-- Euro.

You can try to skip these costs, but it will hold you up. A fairly good oscilloscope and function generator are the entry fee for doing more than trivial things in electronics. The sky is the limit, but there it begins.

And it will be difficult to learn how to use an oscilloscope and a function generator. Doing accurate measurements is a very difficult area in electronics. But one can learn everything as long as there is the will to learn. I usually find everything I want to learn on the internet. Usually a YouTube video can be found explaining the technique.

Do you think it's a helpful response ? :-( I know enough to build electronic circuit from correct schematic, it's not a problem for me.
I have build many such circuits, even correcting a few. I know surely if I could spent 400 euro DDS generator it would be exceptionally useful tool for me, but I can hardly collect 50 euro per month, so please do not post such advice.


The only problem for me is the mess in internet about amplifiers - how to setup bias correctly so the output is a swing above zero level always ? A simple correct schematic with common transistor and an explanation hot to compute it would be more useful.

I think the diy kits can be good for me, but are they any good?

I checked Ebay, and there are many different DDS function generators that are very affordable, and I will definitely get one of those.

I bought this cheap one, but it doesn´t get delivered until between dec 5-20, so i will have to wait.

I just want to start experimenting a little bit with finding and tuning resonant frequencies of my coils.
