A list of the best free magnetic-field, simulators
« on: February 17, 2016, 04:23:22 AM »
I thought maybe someone should start a list of the  best  free  magnetic-field,  simulators ,  just so people might have a less important alternative way to test  magnet-motor  designs  etc,  obviously it is not a satisfactory replacement for building actual devices .

(  Personally I'm only interested in the fields of  permanent-magnets,  but I would hate exclude  simulators of the fields of electromagnets from this thread  )

(  I think that these types of software would be very limited or ineffective when it comes to eddy-currents,  but what about magnetic-fields interacting with each other,  and in particular magnetic-fields interacting with each other from a long distance,  so that two fields might only interact in an undulating or intermittent manner   )

Which are the best  totally  free  magnetic-field  simulators

There are several open source packages that have solvers for magnetostatics.
1. MaxFEM (MaxFEM)
2. ELMER (Elmer finite element software)
3. OpenFOAM (Standard Solvers -- included the static magnetic solver)

one i tried was this: http://www.femm.info/wiki/HomePage
its free enough. and with the right amount of LSD, you WILL discover overunity using this useful software!
LSD is probably not needed, just download the software from that link and find yourself lost in it for hours trying out different settings.

ideally it would have templates of other inclusions, such as different materials, shapes and numbers of materials etc.

I'm   guest1289,  this is my other account,   for other things I'm doing  .

   thanks for those

Since I won't be able to build any of my designs, this software is better than nothing

Magnetic fields are produced by means of the motion of electrical fees. As an example, the magnetic subject of a bar magnet effects from the movement of negatively charged electrons in the magnet. The origin of the earth's magnetic discipline isn't always completely understood, but is thought to be associated with electrical currents produced by the coupling of convective consequences and rotation within the spinning liquid metal outer middle of iron and nickel. This mechanism is named the dynamo impact.

A few years ago I read a news which related to a research base.
The research based on refrigeration mean "how magnetism field is using in place of a compressor of a refrigerator cooling system".It is most of the safest way to refrigerator ..
So can you give an update on that news??I need it for My project work.

I am checking into it. CAE Linux looks very good as well. I am trying to set up a virtual setup to run a Ubuntu install for the software.
