New Orbo video and going on sale in Dec.
« on: October 29, 2015, 01:40:27 AM »
https://www.facebook.com/Orbo-217496297671/

Steorn has started a FB page with a new video on the Orbo O-Cube. It is going on sale, from Steorn exclusively, in December for the low price of 1200 euros. This is for a cell phone charger good for approximately 2 phone charges a day, but you never need to plug the O-Cube in. The page is also supposed to be a location for the testers to post their experiences with the device. Can't wait for iFixit to get a hold of one.

"low price of 1200 euro"

That's a low price in europe? How much is an average cellfone there?

I looked at their Facebook page and a posting they made about a week ago had only 75 shares or thereabouts.  That's "incredibly dead" as far as activity goes.  Their dead website now redirects to the Facebook page?  No money for renewing their website registration?  Note their website was there but inactive for the past six months.

1200 Euros?  It almost seems like a joke, they are pricing it so that nobody will buy one.  Nobody buys, nobody knows.

Steorn has fallen long and hard.

Yes, but guys like us will buy it just to find out the M.O.
Anyway the truth will come out as soon as it goes on sale.

I wonder how quickly the seller will be prosecuted if the product does not perform as advertised...especially in rural areas where RF energy harvesting does not perform well.  However if the terms of usage require this device to be carried with a person then it might as well work as advertised by inertial mechanical energy harvesting... but Stephen Hawking (or his impostor) still might be able to sue them if the terms of usage do not stipulate regular walking.

With all due respect this IS something I know or thing or two about. Your conclusions are obviously silly and I suspect you did that deliberately. You don't renew website registrations, you renew your domain name, which you can see expires in two years.

I don't know who advised to 301 the website to FB but IMHO not a smart move. Usually its done naively because there is more activity at FB so why run a website as well. They should share the message & own the destination.
75 shares is not "incredibly dead" I could go and buy 20K shares from robots.... Unless you do an analysis of the 75 ppl that did the shares you cannot make that claim. On the other hand their FB page has had nearly 1200 likes in a week. I think their launch could have be handled better but your "analysis" is flawed. No disrespect.
I thought their video was excellent, warts and all.

Maybe this new orbo is like an antenna, harvesting RF for charging the lithium battery..... ::)

Like what magnetman shared.... :o

The below link will show my schematic diagram of a setup that can possibly produce 150 volts at 500 milliamps.
That's 75 watts of power if the antenna is large/long and high with an excellent ground. Location near a radiant energy source very desirable also.
I decided to OPEN SOURCE this info for anyone deciding to build it.  Al parts are inexpensive and available on
Ebay. I am presently constructing it.

The C1 to C8 caps are 0.22uf Mylar.  The C9 to C 16 caps are electrolytic 33uf.  Working voltage of all caps must be over 150 volts.  The small signal diodes are rated at 150 volts 500 milliamps.  All diodes are Fairchild 1N458A

1200 Euro, can (it is claimed) charge 2 cellphones per each 24 hours.

But it only costs less than one dollar US _per year_  in grid electricity to charge a cellphone every day for that whole year. So you will need 600 years, at least, before this "free energy" is cheaper than what you get from the local utility grid.

And the "ocube" has a 25 percent failure rate, according to Sean.  Who will be the first to buy one?

And it isn't even a cube!

Besides the point which is portability, plus freedom from the home-socket.

25% busted rate or 25% power-overdraw from humans plugging tv's into the thing instead of in-the-range cellfones.important distinctions

Take it!
Make use of the free energy!
stupid.
 ;)

I agree 100%.  Are they hoping that folks forgot about their other false claims?

Here is a link for he webinar.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3O3bSu6N7vwaXZCMGZJS1pHNDA/view

At about 8 1/2 minutes in they actually go into to an overview of components of their battery and the internals of the O-Cube. Be warned, the audio is horrible, especially the ambient stuff going on in the space. Really don't know what they were thinking putting this out while trying to build their image. He starts to speak on why the cost is the way it is but it's really hard to understand him over the other guy speaking in the foreground (his audio is better than the webinars, it's like the mike was on the wrong person).
