Here is some amazing footage of his actual ride at Luna Park/Coney Island/ 1920-29

The weights are a 31lb 24" diameter iron saw blade and 25lb weight 11.5" diameter. Using a small motor attached to a 10" arm running around the top can precess the weight of 56lbs with very little load to the drive motor.

But let me remind you: An "experiment" is a system whereby the Experimenter varies one or more Independent Variables and examines their effect on one or more Dependent Variables, controlling or equalizing all other "third variables", in order to establish a cause-and-effect relationship in the hopes of supporting or failing to support a well-formulated testable hypothesis.

In contrast to a "demonstration", which seems to be what is happening in the video. What's the hypothesis, what is being varied, what is the effect, on what dependent variable?

Whatever do you mean? Can't you hear the noise and vibration? Imagine the drive motor heating up? Power is being dissipated, that's for sure.

The Top as it was called. I posted about that a while back but I do like your test. I haven't got to any of my test I planned for it. To many trips to the VA.

Time and money were no doubt consumed as well.  But external work being done?  Unless it is a remarkable new carpet  tearing machine, I think not.

Yep, doesn't have any external work other than vibration and drilling a hole in the middle of the table where the central pivot is. Didn't get to putting magnets on the rim so that they undulate past fixed coils on the ground or vibration energy harvesting devices on the top.

I wasted so much time on this carpet muncher, a whole 40 minutes. The pumpkin pie that I was baking concurrently in the oven as I was building this came out awesome though.  ;D

I'm glad you like the ride. :) Semantics got me again this is a demonstration not an experiment. I'm only demonstrating the motion.
