New technological association is being formed
« on: September 14, 2006, 03:35:11 AM »
I invite all of you to visit http://association-steorn.orientalfans.com/steorn/
It is a temporary site that we are using until we decide on the name for the new association.

We are looking for support from various individuals and organizations on our current mission which is: To investigate, build, test, and verify various technological claims of an unexplained nature.

This is a global consortium of people of all professions and experience and one of our goals is to focus efforts on individual claims, and the first one on the list is Steorn's.  One at a time we will investigate and work at validating or debunking any claims made.   Visit the website to see what we need, and any support will be appreciated.  So far we have over 30 people registered and this started 2 days ago.

Once we have 100 members registered, the organization will be "officially" formed, a board election will proceed and members will vote on a name for the international association.  There's alot going on and I hope that you'll spread the news.

Here's the update:
We started this approximately 4 days ago.
We're now over 50 people registered.
We now have a poll for a new logo waiting for votes.
We've received "hits" from over 20 countries based on the IP address.
Check it out... It's growing fast!

Cheers

The poll to vote on the name of the association has begun!  The poll ends September 30, 2006.  Registers members can only vote, and registration is free!

I'm hoping for 100 members by the end of the month.  I also have a "toy" design which will be posted on the website for review by the members.  This toy could be something that the association could use to raise funds.

Any support by the members of this forum would be greatly appreciated.  I suggest spreading the word, signing up and becoming a founding member.

Cheers

Just to give you an update:

We're now over 70 founding members and things have slowed down quite a bit.  I'm hoping we'll have 100 members by the end of the month, and if we won't I stated earlier on in the project that it won't form if we don't receive 100 members.  I should have made the goal 50 (hindsight is 20/20), oh well.  Any support from people on this forum is appreciated.

The poll for the name of the international association and logo is open and will end at the end of the month.

Interestingly, only half the people have voted, which is pretty good considering.

I've mentioned before that I designed a toy that will demonstrate the stored energy in magnets and it will run continuously until the components wear out due to the friction and forces.  The design uses Steorn's LEMA, and is the first step in the process of Steorn's claim.  This design will only be available to registered members.

Cheers,

John

Hi John,
if this really works,
why are you not posting a video of it ?

Did Steorn now move on and did release some final
infos what they have ?
Have had no time to check all of their forum pages...
When will they release the infos ?
Many thanks.

I have designed a toy that uses the LEMA patent.  I haven't built it yet.  Steorn has said that their LEMA is NOT part of the core technology in their claim.  Nevertheless, the LEMA, if it works the way they say it does, and the toy I designed is built, this would be a good indication that Steorn may have something with their new motor and deserve some credit at least instead of a complete shut out.  Mind you, the toy is pretty useless, but very useful at the same time.

The process of Steorn's claim is a challenge on members of the association, if we can build and test a device based on what information Steorn has given before the Jury decides, I cannot predict what that will do for the association, though it is highly unlikely, but very challenging.  It would be too funny if we actually build something that works...

This will also provide this new association with a simple toy that with a corporate sponsor, we will give away for free for obvious reasons.  Then the snowball effect starts.

I will admit their forum is a bit wonky and it is unmoderated.  The traffic on it has dropped drastically due to alot of flaming and immature remarks by many, but at the time we started this it was a great launching pad.

I can only hope that we continue to progress and do the best to provide a much needed balance between the scientific community and the many "garage tinkerers" to help separate the false claims from the real ones.

Cheers!

John

When I read your first statement it sounded like you were stating with certainty that it will run continuously. No offense intended, but hopefully your organization, which sounds really nice, will be very scientific and unbiased. IMHO it really hurts our industry when so many people make claims that have not been verified or even built. I would really like to help educate a lot of these people in what ever manner to help clean up the "free energy" community.

Has anyone heard any news about Steorn? I really wish they would keep us updated more frequently. According to their last update made one month ago, Aug.25, the applications were closed on 16 days ago. I'm wondering when they or if they have already chosen the final 12 scientists.

The bottom line is, the concept of the toy is not mine, it's Steorn's because if Steorn's LEMA patent does what they say it does, and because this toy is so simple, it will work, and it will run continuously.  If the toy doesn't work when it is built, then Steorn's LEMA doesn't work.  This is part of our process in validating claims.

One of the primary objectives of this organization is to bridge the gap between the scientific community and the people who may have breakthrough technology.  This bridge will also separate the frauds that hurt the community from the ones whom claims are real.  The very fact that people turn away from the free energy community is because of the scam artists, would you agree?  Therefore, the scientific community will be forced to deal with any phenomenon validated by this association and may help bring this technology to the public faster than how things are happening at the present time.

Nothing yet, I would expect about 6-12 months before hearing anything from the Jury.  I expect that the public will be informed with this page as to where they are at: http://www.steorn.net/challenge.aspx?p=1

They plan on posting an FAQ, but I guess that they are really busy.

Sounds great to me. I hope your team seriously considers the MEG.  If you do, then please consider using the exact parts that Naudin used. Naudin made two versions-- Metglass and another version using the grain oriented tape wound silicon iron core. You might want to exchange some emails with Naudin as to where your group can purchase every part.

I have a Christmas list, which contains one request :) that all serious "free energy" developers would purchase a ~50 cent thermistor (or sensitive temp probe) to measure small temperature changes. I am convinced, nearly %100 probability, that most legitimate "free energy" devices containing magnetic materials tap into magnetocaloric energy.

I have a cheap thermistor connected to a 4-digit ohmmeter that's sensitive enough to detect my breath 3 feet away. This is sensitive enough to detect ~10 mW of power being added or subtracted from a 3" tape wound iron core.

Thanks for the tip Paul, I will definitely keep that in mind when I set the criteria for testing devices.

Here's another update:

We're over 80 members now and registrations have slowed down even more, and it looks like that the goal of 100 by the 30th may be a real close one.  I can only encourage again those who are interested to check out our temporary website at

http://association-steorn.orientalfans.com/steorn

Decide yourself whether or not you want to be a founding member of this new global organization!

John

Hi John,

I took a look and noticed members have a task list. Will members always have a task list? If so, then approximately how much of their time is required and are members required to complete the period tasks?

I ask because it's my hope that people in this industry have enough time to spend on what they so deem as the best device to work on. As you probably know, I believe this is a passive tactic used to distract a great deal of people away from legitimate devices!!

Thanks,
Paul Lowrance

Hi Paul,

I understand your concern, and no, members will not always have a task list, this is just one to keep things in check to get the organization started.  Once started, it will be up to the board and the members to decide what to focus on next.  One of the goals is to focus on one technology at a time due to limited resources, so having a single focus for the time being will avoid turning the whole thing into a disparate validation system.

Cheers,

John

Thanks John.  I understand and it sounds great. It would be good for the group to focus. I would be pleased if your organization encourages all its members to also continue their own personal research and building of whatever device they are presently working on.

Paul Lowrance
