Burning wood is a mortal sin
« on: September 28, 2014, 02:45:04 PM »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because with the dry distillation of wood it is possible to obtain:

charcoal
gas poor
tar
methyl alcohol
acetic acid
acetone
derivari of the products of fractional distillation

Charcoal
The charcoal produced in the dry distillation of wood, is the common charcoal which is located in the supermarket a few euro.
This is the primary source of coal in our experiments of self-sufficiency.
The charcoal can be used:

- In the fireplace or grill burns with little smoke and flame, and with a few ashes.
- It can be used in the blast in the home for producing iron and cast iron.
- Can be used to produce calcium carbide:
CaO + 3C = CaC 2 + CO
- You can prepare the water-gas:
C + H2O = CO + H2
- With the silica can be obtained either silicon carborundum:
SiO2 + 2C = Si + 2 CO
SiO2 + 3C = SiC + 2CO

Tar distillation
The tar obtained by dry distillation of wood, can be distilled to obtain:

Light oils from which to further adjustment is obtained Benzene, Toluene, Xylene and naphtha solvents. For treatment respectively with solutions of caustic soda and sulfuric acid of the crude products can be separated also phenol and pyridine bases, which are, however, more abundant in the second fraction of tar distillation constituted by Medium oils, from which is obtained also, for cooling, the mothballs.
The fractions following are the heavy oils used for the impregnation of wood, such as liquid absorbent for debenzolaggio gas or as fuels, oils and anthracene used as colorants.
The distillation residue is the tar pitch used for the production of agglomerates of coal, electrodes or various pieces of graphite.

Do you think that all these products sell only from the distillation of tar, obtained as a byproduct of the distillation of wood:
DISTILLATION OF WOOD AND 'AS OIL INDUSTRY.

Wood is excellent material for many purposes. No need to burn it. We have here even houses made of pure wood and it lasts more then 100 years.

Only in Italy each year are burned 10 million cubic meters of firewood

The earth is designed to handle forest fires and volcanic eruptions that produce many times more pollutants than all the world's wood stoves and fireplaces put together.  Yes, many still burn wood in an inefficient manner, but many are turning to highly efficient burners such as secondary burn wood stoves and rocket mass heaters which produce miniscule pollutants into the atmosphere.

Haiti has a tropical climate....A major hurricane wiped out many trees decades ago....that and unsustainable land management practices account for deforestation, not wood burning.

You are kidding, right?

Been sharing such information for years now.  I assure you, such Truths are eminently verifiable and are no joke.  But thanks for highlighting the humor connected with the date.

A little levity now and then....
