Just a simple, cheap but very cool light.  I love this thing.

--- but I trust you are going to be sitting a coil on its head as one of Don Smith's developments.

I am not familiar with that but, it sounds interesting so I will look into it.  I am sure I will find a few fun things to do with this.  Thanks for the tip.

@pirate

Did you know you can extract relatively high voltage and high current (high frequency too)from plasma globes?  Maybe that is what Don Smith was working on!  I always want to run some tests with a plasma globe.  If you like try putting a piece of tinfoil near or on the globe and take a reading with a DMM.  I'm not sure how powerful this is so start off not touching the globe and then move closer.  I wouldnt want you damaging your DMM.  I have seen youtube videos of this that were pretty interesting.

I have seen some youtube videos where guys got shocked by putting al. foil on the globes, so naturally, I will have to try this, ha ha.  I am thinking that the dmm might not register the high voltage/high freq. correctly as we have seen in the JT topics?  I will look into the Don Smith experiments to see what he was doing.  I was thinking about possibly winding some magnet wire around the globe just to see what might happen.

You should get one of these things.  I paid like $6.00 US and $3.00 shipping.  The high voltage circuit alone is well worth that but, and I don't know why, I am just amazed by playing with it.  As I showed in the video, it lights the Av plug easily.  I might also try an Av. plug with a much larger LED.   I am looking forward to a lot of fun experiments with this.

Thanks,

Bill
