@ Zeit,

Those windings are most likely to be copper given the age of the transformer.

The age is what?

Think I have somewhere an aluminum coil transformer lying around myself, looks like decades old, as I remember.

Hmm they used Aloy a lot in the 60s and 70s but found it's joints a problem and after a few fires and court claims most of them stopped using it, it's difficult to solder as it oxidises in a 10th of a second.
To solder it dip the wire in a liquids sort of grease so that as you clean it the grease instantly covers the wire over then solder it with ordinary tin-lead solder but be quick before the grease / oil evaporates ;)

Hi all
Hi T1000
I have some problems on finding a good rectifier output bridge. I need some economic and quick diodes at 1000V @10A minimum specs. My old bridge consist of 4X RURG3060 was blown. Accidentally i disconnected my loads while running and output voltage was raised over 600V which is the maximum for these diodes. Any idea?

If its pre the 1970's which it looks like it could be, then its unlikely as ali only started to be used in transformers from the mid 60's.

Hi Jeg,

I just made diode bridge myself from 12 6A 1000V ultrafast shotky diodes which resulted with 3x diodes in parallel on the diode bridge.
Hopefully that helps ;)

What is the type please of your diodes?

   Help you?  How?
What resistor array? What project? What are you trying to do?
And what does it have to do with this thread. IF nothing, just forget it, or find the right thread.

Sounds like wishful thinking, to me, about the 1%/full brightness idea, or just pipe dream...

generally of the scheme and should "impulse voltage booster" circuit, or at the Russian "импульсная вольтодобавка"

Do not remember exactly now. Possibly tried 1N4007.
As alternative, there are plenty for selection - http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/sense_power/FM64/CL830/SC8

Seems to me this would be an interesting device (coil/capacitor) to expose to a high voltage e-field as shown in the first Roma Grits video.  Notice in that video there is no "apparent" connection between the main secondary coil and the adjacent "pickup" coil connected to the "capacitor" (unknown device under the coffee cup) and output load.  Likely such a composite device could be directly connected to a load.

I'm still experimenting with low power, high frequency stuff at the moment, but as I get into the range of blowing electronic appliances up, I may have to take some time to wrap such a coil/capacitor device and see what it does.

BTW Verpies, that coil I wound and mentioned a while back, it loves to run at about 2.5MHz and is a little tricky at the moment keeping a MOSFET Kacher out of the Miller range--runs a tad hot.

Thanks Dog-one for the respond,

I hope you have read the attached pdf file i linked in my latest quote, there's a lot explanation about it.

Let me know when you will start winding and testing such a TBC , i have some experience in dimensions and capacity etc.
I am setting up a experiment myself.
Use if you want my PM.

Succes

Yes, but only with brass and soft steel disk combos ( mine were 30cm OD and AFAIK TK's were 50cm OD ).
I blew up my scope while working with it and quit.

Sorry, have to ask another highly intelligent question: How do we know for sure that the steel disc is made of steel indeed and not aluminum? In that blurry video the silver color would be the same. Does Kapanadze say himself that it is steel?

Dear Zeitmaschine.

Your transformer looks like it could have been a 3 phase welder.

Hmmmm...... Three " Daniel Macfarland Cook " coils on a common core!   ;)

Going back I spent nearly 2 decades with the supply industry, UK. Aluminium was all the rage, it was lighter and cheaper than Copper. Jointing was done using special flux and an ABR bar. This Lead bar contained an abrasive material that scrubbed and tinned simultaneously. It seems that crimping has become the norm these days. As for Aluminium transformer windings they were also quite common, after all, they used bolted connections!

Cheers Grum.

3 Phase kWh meter running backwards when a welder is connected.

Air contains: radiant energy, static, radio frequencies. Think! man.

I am. I am.  I just can't see what I'm looking for inside this box.

What I do see is a lot of standard electronics, a relatively normal transformer and no ground wire.  No antenna and even a metal box for shielding.  So if there is a trick to it, it must be timing.

What is it really that Kapanadze knows?  Something he has never told anyone?

Oh wait, I know how much Nick hates seeing electronics in a box.  This is better.

I'll say it before someone else does:  There is a battery inside the fake core of the transformer.  There, now everyone is happy.
