Yuk - that's nasty looking Nick! Start afresh with the IC sockets and use much thinner tinned copper interconnecting / hookup wire for all low current signal connections. Such as: -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PCB-Fine-Link-Hookup-Jump-Repair-Wire-Red-Black-6cm-Tinned-Wire-x-40-/252827267632?hash=item3addadf230:g:PNAAAOSwXYtY1Cgx

You can cut down the supplied lengths as required.

Ok, well, thanks guys. But, my main concern is finding a circuit that WORKS. One that does not require redoing, and redoing.
As we don't know which circuit really works to produce a self runner, neatness is not a priority, at this time. In any case there are no cold solder joint to blame, or bridges.
The circuit was partially working until I pulled it out to make some changes, and now it won't fire up.  But, I will get this working. Promise.
   Thanks again for your comments.
Verpies, that is mag wire which is used for the traces, ends are cleaned and properly soldered, even though it may not look very nice, it does work. Everything tarnishes here in a matter of hours, so that's why it may look like it's old and "nasty", but, it's well soldered, and I'm using thicker gauge wire, for heavy duty handling.
However, I do have a snare, somewhere. It could be the fets, or the TL494, which I'm looking into at this time, so I've ordered some new ones, just in case.
I've also already ordered the new IC sockets and through hole drivers, etz...   But, the main thing now, is finding a circuit that WORKS,  for me.

Nick,

Once you are properly equipped with the right components and interconnecting wire, you should find construction much easier. Working with a good quality soldering station and multi-core solder ( I use 0.5mm and 0.8mm for most work) will also make the build much easier and enjoyable. Once you become reasonably proficient, you will be able to either easily modify a board or knock-up different configurations on separate boards fairly quickly to find one that works best for you.

Hmm! perhaps it's better to use one of the PCB's designs that are available our Russian friends have published a lot why not utilize one of them, and do yourself a favor if your handy work isn't quite so good.

Ask Enjoykin or someone if they have a layout you can use borrow ect.

    AG:
PCB designs that are available?  PCB for the push pull, ready made and shown to work?  How much???
I'm going with the Stalker design for now. He's posed the most information about it.
But, funny thing is, how he does show a "dead time", at 44.4% duty cycle. Although some would say that it can't work that way. Yet his does...

Yes, Hoppy, I'm aware of that, but remember, that I'm nowhere close to all the needed things, yet, I do what I can, at the rate that I can.
Finding soldering tips here is almost impossible,  good quality solder, flux, etz.... as well.
It takes time and money to get it all together, so most of what I've done is not done by using all new stuff, but with recycled old stuff, like the yoke, grenade wiring, heatsinks, caps, resistors, when possible, as I have a pile of that stuff.
I don't have money for a new scope, (one that does the math), nor for multiple batteries, PSUs, Weller soldering stations, magnifier look thorough soldering lamps, etz... as I've had and used when I used to work at PCB soldering and assembly.  But, I know how to do it right, as well. However, it takes (me) time to get it all together here in the jungle.
   Thanks for bearing with me.
This is my beach, sorry about the blurry pics.  Taken a while back using older cell phone. But, I think that you get the idea,
that I'm not around the corner from Mouser. And, delivery from China takes a month. In any case, thanks for the advice.

Nick,

Its a shame that postage rates are so expensive from the UK to Costa Rica, otherwise I could send you a soldering station, solder, components and all the other items you require FOC.

I can see why you need a 'FEDevice knowledge' out there.

This may come as a shock to some people.... but people actually did do electronics before digital oscilloscopes were invented! In fact... people used analog scopes during the design of the first digital ones!

Ha ha!  Wireless World did an article in the late 70s on how to make a 50mhz scope after Heathkit died, http://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=106301
I then had a dual channel just like yours TK, but this device is a waste of time if you don't have some kind of viewing what your doing and you need to be up to some sort of standard here, as there is a reasonable amount of development doing on and background knowledge requires such as yours ;)

Thanks. But it's all coming together one way or another.
I will get what I need to do all this, but it can take some time.
