Nick,

Please resize your image above!
I just tried to resize it for him, but it's a 'thumbnail' blown up to room size ;
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have just been playing with a heavy duty tesla coil and it's tuning, It's not all that powerful or big, anyway it will
do 10 mm jumps stretching to 13mm before losing when driven with 16.00 volts, my point is if I try using any
kind of ceramic spark plug like Mr Kapanadze uses it will ions the surface of the spark plug and run down its
side and load the coil. I' sure it's partly to do with its frequency rather than voltage and the fact it uses the tesla
winding as feedback into the Base driver of the output transistor and drastically changing it's operating frequency,
not good not good at all.

I was close to finishing replica Ruslan but the mosfets are gone again. I will not use snubbers are just for small part of frequency range.
My snubbers were for small range and i use push-pull for a wide range of frequency . At 14 Khz were big spikes with 15% duty cycle, The 10 ohm snubber resistor was hot and change the value to 14 ohm.
Itsu gave me a good advise to use double winding for yoke primary so i will use Wesley's clamp.

Conico,
I had the same problem.
Gate distortion and source peak voltages above the critical fet rates.

I don' t know how your fers are placed near each other...also Itsu had that issue and seperated the fets by putting the yoke in between.
I also managed that and can draw more then 10Amps in the complete frequenty range also at all duty cycle stages.
Snubber...10nf and 100 ohm resitor as on the schematic.
Fets stays cool and snubber resistor gets normal warm.

Creating more distance between your fets wil benefits mostly.

Succes.
Ps.. changing the mosfet drivers into non-inverting did not solve the problem..... :)

Thanks I will try your snubber!

My mosfets are at least 10 inch seperated.....the likely interact on each other if they are closer to each other then 4 inch.

Hi guyz :)

I am happy to hear these test results on the benches yet it is a challenge.
My snubber's resistors will turn very hot at minutes of drive, the protect the fets for not getting hot.
But eventually they will be so toasted they just die out or pop.

Guyz one more thing want to ask if you guyz are using Over-voltage protection for gates.
two zener diodes facing each other where one anode to source and one anode connected to gate.
Without these my Fets pop immediately.
Cap which I used on my snubber is a 0.33uf 630V poly cap.
yes, make sure the resistors are good in value able to handle the back spikes.

for ones trying with big choke (mediator) I prefer using TV yoke high perm, or some rings of high perm same
dimensions as a yoke.
If you use the Push-pull yoke as the mediator itself the tuning is completely different and that is where Akula
tuning comes in play. very fine one.

Hi GeoFusion,

Just my 2 cents...
Use bidirectional tvs diode to protect the mosfet gate, but I think the mosfet you're using is too weak, you should measure the voltage at your mosfet gate, and find a more suitable mosfet, else you're wasting efficiency using those zener diode.

As for snubber I think 0.33uF is a little too much, use 2.2nF in series with a 10R 3W resistor.

Geo,
I use also as Lacphong pointed out the bidirectional 18V TVS diodes.
Snubber can do something but are not ment to dissipate lots of power.
It is all about a clean gate dignal....thats what gives control about snubber losses or even burning the fets.
When you have strange peaks on your fet source wich is not generated by gate pulsing you have a gate distortion....
It could be HV ...or interference from the other fet...

Succes

Not only.

MOSFETs are most frequently damaged by:
1) Gate overvoltage
2) Drain overvoltage
3) Drain overcurrent

While interrupting inductive loads, #2 is the most probable.

Geo,  The mediator choke with 12 turns of thick wire may not be controlling the amps going to the induction circuit. But drawing only 5 amps should not heat any thing up, either. I have to use two chokes.
Does your kacher heat up, with the emitter connected to the o.47uf capacitor, 28t coil and the earth ground?

Actually it is Verpie's lossless clamp. If you implement this kind of arrangement, you will never blown out any mosfet again. Just take care of the clamp's shottky diodes and capacitors voltage ratings.

...and keep wires short to all 3 MOSFET's legs, like NickZ does ...because 10cm of straight wire adds 0.1μH of inductance.

Correct, and i did mention that to Conico here:  http://overunity.com/12736/kapanadze-cousin-dally-free-energy/msg492508/#msg492508

But if conico or Geo decide to start using it, they need to be aware that they might loose the "Geo effect".

Itsu

I recall Geo mentioning that he thinks a good conventional design and layout maybe is not what is required for a self-runner. I take this to mean that Geo will maintain the 'effect' at all cost.
