MAE 2.0
« on: August 27, 2012, 06:17:21 PM »
Hi All,

Not sure if this magnet motor has been posted or if it's faked, it's dated April 2012. It's interesting he went through two different designs it sounds like his first version had lots of sticky spots. The 2.0 version he added shielding on the facing side of each magnet and evened out the magnets to get it to run. I cannot find which material he is using for shielding in the picture it looks like aluminum blocks. I tried looking for a video but haven't found one. Anymore info on this motor?

The use of all repulsion and the angled stator and rotor magnets were both included as claims in Kohei Minato's patents years ago.
US # 5,594,289 and  4,751,486

A heavy flywheel on good bearings will spin a long long time, even if there are lots of springy "hill-valley" magnet interactions happening along the way. The faster you spin the less the wheel "feels" the magnet interactions, too. And the more magnet interactions, the smoother the wheel will turn and the shallower the "hills".

The way to test systems like this is to figure out a way to give the wheel rotor a constant starting impulse, or to drive it to a known RPM, then time the duration of the rundown. Compare the case where the machine is complete with all its magnets, and the case where all the stator magnets are removed and replaced with non-magnetic dummies. Perform each rundown from the same starting impulse or rotor RPM, and do each case several times to get average durations.

These comparisons are almost never done -- or at least never shown -- by builders of all-PM motors. They should be, though, because they are very revealing, and they will allow builders actually to see if their improvements are improving things... or not.

Hi TinselKoala,

I've seen those patents before but thank you for taking the time to dig them up. I think I found the original patent for this device which is Brazilian.

This was in 1989 so the designer of the MAE, may have got inspiration from it. It looks very similar right down to the shielding on one side of the magnet.

Yes, I have seen that effect too, the faster the magnet spins past another the less force you obtain. That is exactly what happened in one design at faster speed there is no force generated to add any more to the system. Leading to an eventual static system. It would be interesting if he put a load on it to see if the system is actually generating work or just fighting with itself to maintain the rotation.
