New to this forum please help me remember.

I remember in the early 1980s seeing a video on the news of some European scientist that had a sphere about 6 ? 8? diameter and they spun the thing and it took off.  A year or so later I asked someone who watched it with me and he said that they had problems with it spinning out of control so it did not work.  20 years later I am interested in what it was and how it worked because I have a few ideas but I would love to see the plans for that thing.  Anyone know about a device that looked like a ring in a ring device that spins very fast?

Thanks

So, they spun this sphere and it flew?

A year or so later I asked someone who watched it with me and he said that they had problems with it spinning out of control so it did not work.  20 years later I am interested in what it was and how it worked because I have a few ideas but I would love to see the plans for that thing.  Anyone know about a device that looked like a ring in a ring device that spins very fast?

So it spun out of control, did it do this while in the air?

Was it a ring in a ring? or a sphere?

I'm afraid we need you to be a little more descriptive.
