Uni-Directional Magnetic Material Design From LaFonte Research
« on: February 10, 2012, 08:53:43 PM »
See attached,
The gray is ferromagnetic, the dark red is plastic or any non-magnetic material. The segments can be any thickness. If the iron and plastic segments are the same thickness then the effective air gap along the full length will be equal to half the length of the rod. But flux is not restricted when flow is through the smaller cross section as shown in the drawing. The magnets can move along the length with very little negative work needed.
This in effect is a material that allows flux to flow in one direction but restricts the flow at 90 degrees to the existing flow.
