Ksheeradhara and its effects
« on: January 11, 2012, 03:04:04 PM »
Do you find yourself stressed out and always worrying about past or future? If so, it is high time that you went for a rejuvenation therapy at any of the kerala ayurvedic resorts. There are many Ayurvedic therapies which offer revival of your spirits. You can go for oil massages, dharas or if you insist on going for a thorough therapy, you can go for panchakarma or the ones advised by your Ayurvedic practitioner.

Among them, one therapy, ksheeradhara, is found to be very effective in providing a profound relaxed feeling to the central nervous system.  It is one type of dhara, but instead of medicated oil, the Ayurveda practitioner use cow’s or buffalo’s milk in the process of ksheeradhara. Decoctions made of various herbs will be added to the milk.

Ksheeradhara is of two types – shirodhara and sarvangadhara. While shirodhara is carried out for the head, Sarvangadhara covers the whole body except head.  Ksheeradhara is effective in the treatment for hypertension, depression, anxiety, insomnia etc. ``Ksheeradhara helps to preserve the mental and emotional well being of a human being,’’ says Sadhana Choudhari, who undergoes this treatment once in a year.

Ayurvedic practitioners also talk about the qualities of ksheeradhara as a preventive and curative therapy.  This is also a major method in Ayurveda treatments for paralysis, dementia, various neurological disorders and psychological problems.
