Please Change stuff on your forum!
« on: May 27, 2006, 12:50:21 AM »
That begin to be ridiculous nagivate on this site, sorry but it true

stop the stupid robot to add ADS on each thread, most of the time they are no post, we go thinking they are a reply and we waste our time because of ADS

and add a mininum of 10 reply per PAGE not 2 or 3!

If you want make money with the google ads, its not the good way to polute us with ADS, go work!

I own a mod for hl2, i invest time and money on it, on our forum i dont polute with ADS like here, its really getting ridiculus now

please do somethign about it!

The adds do not bother me, whats the big deal.   If the adds will help pay for this thing, then go for it.

well i don't really like it myself but hey if it keeps this forum going so be it. plus i use ZoneAlarm Internet
Security Suite, it takes away all the ads  ;D

"add a mininum of 10 reply per PAGE not 2 or 3!" i do agree with you on that.  :-\ but i guess he is worried for those on very very slow internet connection. maybe we can individually adjust this somehow in settings, im not sure.

peace

If you would click at least once in your visit here the ebay offers,
I could do this, but with 10.000 servered ads only 15 clicks is a bit low...
I have to finance the hosting somehow...
and the ebay offers are very interesting, cause they relate directly to
new alternative energy...so please klick at least once a day onto it,
when you are here.

The ads don't really bother me either.  I probably won't click on them though, because the ones I have noticed are non-english and I don't know what they are even if I click on them.

I could just click on them, but it seems unethical to do this because it causes someone to have to pay for the click, and I have no intention (or ability) to read their ad anyway.

The old YahooGroup did not have the problem. The number of clicks
needed is ridiculous, broadband or not. This board is hopelessly
fragmented

Okay, guys,
I have changed it now back to 5 postings per page,
so you don?t have to click so much...
I hope you will still at least click once a day onto this
Ebay ad.
These are links directly to Ebay auctions from people like you and
me that sell new energy solutions on the German Ebay platform.

As Ebay pays these clicks and Ebay has LOTS OF MONEY ( they are the most money makers
on the Internet these days..!)  and only one click per day per IP address is counted,
it is enough, if you click once a day on one ad, which looks interesting to you.
This would be really appreciated, as this will pay the hosting of our forum here.
Many thanks.
P.S: The Ebay Revelance ad program is unfortunately only available yet on the
German Ebay platform, but I hope Ebay USA will soon also have it...
but anyway, checkout the German offers, sometimes they also have english description
in it and they are really intersting ! You sometimes really wonder what is already
availble in alternative energy via Ebay !
e.g this modification of a cheap clima-device to a heat pump:
CLICK THIS: modification of a cheap commercial clima-device to a powerful heatput

Hopefully soon will be a plugin available, that lets me place ads at the sides,
so you can read the topics uninterupted, then it will be better.

Also I am thinking about putting a paid membership onto this forum
for PRO users, who don?t want to see advertisement and
the money I will use to conduct experiments and post it here only
for the PRO users, who pay and the normal user will
only get a short overview.
If now 2500 users would pay e.g. 1 to 5 US$ per month,
I could really do amzing things with this money.
I also could pay other experimenters for their efforts,
if they want to publish their experiment results over here
in detail with pictures and videos...

Do you all think this would be a good idea to introduce
a paid membership with these options ?
At least this way there would be coming in some
money which could be used to do experiments much faster
and get results much quicker as I could also let things
built by professional builders and pay them and so have devices
checked out much faster...

How many people of you would be ready to pay a monthly
fee of about 1 to 5 US$ for this ?
As we don?t get research money from the government or
other institutions, I only see this private way to get financed
and get forward by just many people paying a small
amout like a subscription to technical magazine newspaper...

What do you think. Please post your opinion.
Many thanks.

A dollar or a Euro per month seems pitched at the  correct level. When you consider the implications of even a small replication success in the arena it is chicken feed to be in at the start of something truly revolutionary. There does seem to be nothing successfully OU and replicable as yet ( others may argue ) - lots of OU hot air but i live in hope.

Stefan,

I don't mind paying you some 10 to 20 Euros for the upkeep of this domain.
Because it would be nice if we didn't have these add banners anymore.
But not every member is able to pay that much or is willing to pay so I have my doubts somehow.
An other thing is that new people who will visit this site might not be willing to pay and therefor can not see anything what this site has to offer (or you could give them some teasers for free).
Anyway, I want this site to go on and am willing to pay some.

Well this domain is hosted by a fast and generous provider so I don't think you can have this for just 5 Euros a month.
For just 5 Euros a month you have a crappy site (domain) with a lot of offtime and slow download speeds and little backups if at all.
You only get what you pay for.
