JT Circuit Query
« Reply #555 on: April 27, 2011, 02:43:18 AM »
Hi Altrez,

The transistor you recommended for use, 2N3055, only has two connection points while the typical transistors used in the JTs have three.  So, I was confused about how to connect the 2N3055 transistor into the circuit.   I was planning to connect one leg of it up to the wire coming from the toroid to the pot and then to the transistor.  The other lead from the toroid I was going to take to the other post on the transistor.  I didn't know which post of the transistor to connect back to the other side of the battery from the transistor.  I had no problem with where the toroid is connected directly to the battery.  I also had a problem with the heat sink.  I was pretty sure that you wanted to apply the heat sink to the transistor, but I wasn't sure how to connect it to the transistor.  I'm not sure where to tie the transducer in either.  Thanks for all your help!!

Best Regards,
Slovenia

Yes just stick a small screw and nut through one of the mounting holes in the case and connect to that for the collector.

40 KHz transducers
« Reply #566 on: April 28, 2011, 12:15:14 AM »
There seems to be only one supplier I've found in China who makes the 45 KHz transducers and her shipping is way to high, so I've been looking at 40 KHz transducers.  Will the 40 KHz adjust to where we need it to or am I just wasting my time?  I'm waiting for pricing and shipping costs from about five Chinese suppliers now.  Thanks.

It doesn't matter. Connect the brush and just one of the other terminals.

Transducer Query
« Reply #569 on: April 28, 2011, 12:43:51 PM »
Hi RAD,

What type of transducer are you using and where did you get it if you don't mind my asking?  Also, what's your final output voltage?  Thanks.

Best Regards,
