Title: Perpetually rotating wheel
Post by: scorpio on December 01, 2010, 08:42:41 PM
Hi,

I was in Austria in the spring. I have seen this machine work in the Technical Museum of Vienna. I went there first in 2003. At the time, was there and it worked.

Here is a video from the machine:

And here is a description of the device, with a picture of its builder, along with other perpetual motion machines that he has made.
Many science centers around the world have one of these machines. There's one in the Ontario Science Centre as well.

Scroll down to David "Dedalus" Jones, where you will see a picture of the above device at the Vienna Science Museum.

Yes, I read. But I have no idea how it works. Perhaps the night watchman change the batteries at night.  :)
...Or not...?

I've spent hours staring at the one in the Ontario Science Centre. I think it is one of the ones pictured on the link I gave, or a close relative. It's pretty cool. I think it's powered by compressed air that comes in via one of the transparent plastic support pieces and then is channeled up a hollow frame member. It would only take something like a small aquarium pump to keep it turning, and the pump could be located under the floor or even in a light fixture.

Are you absolutely SURE about that TK?

Excerpt from "I, Fraudulous" by David "Daedalus" Jones:
"I complicated it with a number of cunning distractions, each designed to lead the scientific mind along one or other of several false trails."

The structure consists of a glass or acrylic sheet. Can be seen below. No tubes or wires do not go forth from the floor. The cabinet is completely transparent from all sides.
The wheel goes to the edge of a tube, but there are no paddles on the wheel to rotate in the air. Not hear any sound.

This is not OU and based on the stirling effect.

I think that OU is already done. It is that its more profitable to let the people without it.

No, this is not Stirling engine because of the large gap between the piston and cylinder. How would the heat energy? The rotating wheel is needed to keep a few watts. This can not be achieved with air at room temperature.

Have you come across Daedelus' column in London's "New Scientist" magazxine?
He wrote some fabulous stuff up to the 80s or so. There is a book:

What are the heatsinks for? There are one on each side of the motor. Inside there, a "needle" entering and exits. Stirling engine after all?

the creater himself calls them fake.  It's just an artwork.  there is no point to the heatsink other than making it look cool.  They aren't even a hoax, the creater made them as fakes for show.

bump for Omnibus ???

That's irrelevant. What's relevant is that someone has unnecessarily shown his failed attempts (something he should not have done because no one needs it) and that should not be projected to mean that attempts of others will be equally as unsuccessful.

I agree with that.  never meant to suggest others would fail.

but I don't have a problem with this guy.  they were not hoaxs like so many others do. It looks like this guy was open upfront about the work not being real and others have tried to make them real lol...

it's the guys who hoax that piss me off.

obivously the wheel turns without any kind of external input. can such a slow rotation produce enough power to fire an electromagnet? The firing of an em at the precise time would keep it turning. If you put a load on this it would probably stop...........just my thoughts of how this works .........shylo
