Have a lathe? Wanna make some cash? JT project
« on: January 22, 2010, 12:50:27 AM »
Since this unit will be using a JOULE thief I thought this might be the best place to put this.

Attached is a pdf... I am looking for somebody to make the two turned aluminum components for a prototype... I just need a quote. I am the author of the DWG so I have source... I can produce 3D model if needed.

If you know of anyone please forward them this thread. I would really like to have this done within this community.

Also any input is as always appreciated.

Thanks
UZ

http://www.emachineshop.com/

I've used these folks for one-offs.  The software is easy to use, and they can handle just about any machining you need.  Plus they give you a very fast quote once you submit the drawing.

As a footnote,  They've got a PCB sister company that does the same thing.  Design your PCB with their free software, submit, RFQ, purchase.  Nice and simple.

Where do you live? Do you have a university with a Department of Mechanical Engineering? They might do it for free.

Does your invention have an electric or electronic component? If so, the Depatment of Electrical Engineering might do it for free, especially if you could bring into your work a second year student as part of their second year project.

I have a small turret lathe, with a 20" bed and used it to make parts for my Stan Meyers project.
How large are the parts to be (outside diameters) ?

UZ:

I have both a lathe and 4 axis CNC in a fully equipped shop.  I'd need a better drawing and specification of what you need to perform a quote. (is it only the "valve" you need or what?)(is the anodizing to be part of the quotation, etc.)

I do custom work for this field, and you can contact me via links on this website:

http://qdmechanic.com/

Fast turnaround and quality work, at reasonable prices.

Contact me, and we'll do a better relay of information (if you have 3D CAD already, that's best).  And I have a mechanism for payment on the above mentioned website.
