Ignore user feature
« on: May 20, 2009, 10:14:11 PM »
I've seen this feature used on other forums I belong to and lo and behold it is available as a mod for SMF 2.0 RC1:

http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=185

It allows any user to create an ignore list so they can't see the posts of people they don't want to see.  One users ignore list does not affect anyone else.  Seems like a simple mod that some would appreciate.

As far as I understand moderators could set themselves as un-ignorable.

What do you think ?

i think this already works.
i have several users on my ignore PM list and i don't see their posts either. in fact it gives me an option to see their posts. says something like "You are ignoring this user. Show me the post."

click your 'my messages' tab.
choose 'change settings' on the sidebar menu.
add 'nyctuber' to ignore list and you don't see their posts.

hope that helps. i love it, works great to filter a huge thread, because you know who the talking heads are right away.

So it is, hmm, hidden in profile settings.  Thank you for pointing that out.

OMG - very nice!
While I really miss the layout design of the old website, this feature is a welcome addition.

(sorry nyc... errrr, NOT sorry  8) )
