plasmacluster is electrolysis?
« on: November 27, 2008, 04:17:29 AM »
Just an idea.

Sharp has been promoting plasmacluster device for a couple of years now. I happen to have one of them and found that it is effective to stop cold.

The plasmacluster work by generating balanced positively and negatively charge ion. This ion will kill virus or bacteria in the air.

We know that electrolysis will release some H+ and O- ion in the air. Would by doing electrolysis we also kill the virus, reduce smell, make air clean in our garage? If it is maybe it is a good idea to put a very small cell in our living room :).

Do plasmacluster work by electrolysis of water in the air? Would it make an effective electrolyzer?

It would be interesting to try to use plasmacluster for electrolysis. Or someone already try this?

Nevermind. I found explanation:
http://www.abc-varmepumpe.dk/uploadedImages/4361-aermec_ew_240_1.pdf

"PLASMACLUSTER ionising filter.

Plasmacluster is capable of reducing the level of pollutants, by decomposing the molecules that form them.

Using a series of electric shocks, "Plasmacluster" causes the water molecules present in the air to separate into positive and negative ions. These ions neutralise the gas pollutant molecules, forming products that are normally present in clean air.

The result is in the air: you can finally breath clean, odour-free ionised air."

It is electrolysis, maybe using high voltage (220V). But that also means our electrolysis cell is plasmacluster device :).

Hi
No it is not electrolysis, it more likely has an 'ioniser' inside. More like a sparking discharge this gives out ozone. They are using the 'plasmacluster' as a sales gimic.

The ABC- device is an enery pump
the sharp an ionic cleaner

a plasma cutter kinda works like a arc welder. you have to make contact before it starts cutting and what ever metal it makes contact with its going to cut it. ive seen a controlled arc as a test hho and it eventually make a nice size implosion. ill try to find the video

The product review is helpfull :).

I do not agree that it is ionizer. My air conditioner has ionizer function too but it certainly have different feel.

When the ionizer mode is on the room feel dustier maybe because the dust trying to attach to us. When plasma cluster mode is on cough is definitely reduced.

Nissan believe it:

I don't know if it's just me being paranoid, but the air in electrolysis experiment room feel more refreshing.

I don't know if there is relation between Sharp plasmacluster with plasma cluster ( with spaces) or plasma cutter or plasma electrolysis. All I know is that the device is small, smaller than hand palm, it uses AC as input, is inside a plastic container and do not glow.
