Hello Ward

acording to Bob they are wound ccw
he said to wind  up from middle across top then outside  to inside going around the core in a ccw motion

thanks
wer

My dear Wer,

I am so sorry to have to say this, especially knowing how much time and effort is involved in winding one of these coils, but you are incorrect.  Bob Boyce said they are wound CCW starting at the inside and winding to the outside on the top longitudinal winding.  The bottom longitudinal winding is wound CW starting from the inside and winding to the outside, because it is "flipped, and when flipped, it will be on the bottom.

The bias longitudinal winding is CCW starting from the top and winding to the bottom.  The inner core is identical, CCW starting from the top and winding to the bottom.

The secondary is wound CCW, and this also, in a CCW direction.  The same is true with the primaries.

Bob Boyce wrote to me just a short time ago, concerned, because it appeared to be wound CW, also, to him.  He has not been able to access the forum, like the rest of us.

So sorry my friend,  hang in there!  All will learn from this.
Bruce

@Weri

Take a look from the point of view of a CCW rotating field riding around the circle within the core. As you (the field) enter the tunnel (the coil) and pass through it, which direction are the windings turning as you are passing down that CCW path? The one you marked as CCW is actually CW to the vantage point of a CCW rotating field, and the one you have marked as CW is actually CCW to the vantage point of a rotating field. This winding direction is what determines the direction of spin interaction of the rotating field.

@Bob,
Sorry to post, but this will help others.  I looked back a page and could not tell if Weri edited that diagram with "Edit" label.  It appears correct as of Sep 21.  Can't we just say a CCW winding appears as a "Left handed" or reverse thread on a bolt or nut?  In case of toroid, imagine it straightened out and observe the 'tread' direction as if it was a threaded bolt.

Hello  ALL

 Finished putting my core in a protective box.
 Checked ohms  L1 dc bias  1.0 ohms, L2-L3  top and bottom coils .6 ohms, L4 center coil .5 ohms
  L5 secondary .5 ohms,  all 6 primary's are .4 ohms each. All readings were done with a greenlee  DM-110 meter.

 Now i can seal this box and get on to boxing the pwm3f-hd with 18 volt battery, dewalt extra heavy duty.
 This box will be metal.   Added 2 pictures.

Good thinking Wer,

I never occurred to me to encase the TPU in a box. But it makes sense, and definitely makes it easier to hook stuff up to.

I forget, do you have a controller to pulse your coil with?

God Bless,
Jason O
