New Pulse Motor Design
« on: October 28, 2017, 08:05:00 PM »
Hi All,

just found out that the 2017 pulse motor build off has started a month ago till Nov 1st.

So I started this motor design that use linear mechanical level that increase crank shaft output by 24 times the input.

This is a pulse motor or in other words a pulse piston motor.

Hey Tom

Wow. A lot going on there, and looks like something you could put in a science museum on display.

Lot of work and it works. Nice job.

Looks like you may be indicating that the 18v in and only about half an amp during the on time for the piston driver, might be trumped if you connect the cap, you are discharging periodically in the vid, to the input. Have you done that yet?  Maybe put a resistor of a specific value across the cap(or a particular light bulb) to act as a load that would bring the cap voltage to a near steady 18v, like the battery and show the voltage and currents there also. If the load shows 18v and has equal to or more than 1/2 an amp, that motor should be a show stopper.  Even if it were less than 100% efficient, like in the 90% range, with all you got going on, that would be a show stopper to show that sort of efficiency..

Those steppers are probably pretty eff as a gen as when you short the windings you can really feel the opposition to doing so, so the high to low gear ratio helps a lot Im sure.
