I Received A Very Unusual Email From overunity.com
« on: June 22, 2017, 02:02:21 AM »
I Received A Very Unusual Email From  overunity.com

I received it at my Gmail address

The reason the  email  is very unusual is because it was :
       *****@*****.***<harti@harti.com>
(  I use the asterisks to censor the  private email-address
          For example,  john.backerwww@gmail.com<harti@harti.com>
I have used my own email address for that example          )

I have 'censored' any details that could identify the member mentioned in the email details .

It is definitely not any sort of  private-message  sent from another member on  overunity.com  via  overunity.com,  I have checked various times and ruled that possibility out.
( And I can compare the details to private-messages I have received in the past from other members  via  overunity.com   )

And the "Reply-To:" in my  Gmail  is set to the private email-address I have censored .

The  image  below is of the email
      - I have put  'long-rectangular-blocks'  to cover up( censor ) the :
         - Email Subject Heading-text(  which happens to be the name of the topic in the link in the message section of the email,  a new topic started  by the member whose identity I have censored  )
         - The  private-email-address of the member whose identity I have censored ,
         - The  topic name / number

I sent  harti@harti.com  an email inquiring about the email they sent, but got no reply.

I won't be sending an email to the  censored email-address in the email,  since they most likely are not aware that their email-address is included in the email from  harti@harti.com

If the member 'had actually' of sent me an email,  and directly via their private email-address,  or as a private-message via overunity.com,   I could have replied,   but it seems that the censored member did not send me any message at all,   it seems to have come from  site-administration

The email only contains a  link to a new topic(  at  overunity.com ) started by the member whose identity I have censored  .

[  In a related subject  -  Its a shame  Gmail  cancelled their  monthly  Account-Activity-Reports  through which you could see exactly how many emails you received in any month and compare that number to the ones in your  inbox,   if you suspected that people are  deleting emails from your  inbox.
Because in  my  Gmail-Account-Activity page which only shows my  'Account-Logins'  and from which  'IP-Addresses',    I  always receive the message  "Sign Out Of Other Sessions" ,   even though it has no reason to display that message.
I change my passwords etc( and have no security-questions etc ), but the "Sign Out Of Other Sessions"  reappears each time I login  for no apparent reason   ]

     My email  john.backerwww@gmail.com

Maybe "they" (aliens) sent you the email so you'd come here and change the world... maybe you're "the one".  ;)

Stephen is the Admin here and his last name is Hartmann but he uses the nickname Harti so I'm sure that came from Stephen who runs this web site and forum.  I think he occasionally sends things out to your registered email or maybe he picked up your email elsewhere - he makes money from this site to keep the forum going.   Look at www.harti.com and you will see Stephen Hartmann on the page along with reference to his website www.overunity.com.   Nothing unusual.

The email came from the admin account,, that is how SMF works for me anyway,,

You have enabled E-mail in your profile,, I assume that is what happened,, someone clicked on the E-mail and not the PM

webby1 is completely correct,   and   today  I received an email from webby1( via the <harti@harti.com> email-address )   in the   format  of   'webby1's-external-email-address<harti@harti.com>'   which is the same  format  in which I received the  email that I started this topic about.

And now I can vaguely remember enabling that option

     my apologies etc

Hmm, I have not sent out any emails for about 3 months or so...

Maybe some other user has sent your this email via the private email function ??

Please let me know.

Many thanks.
