New iOS Update vs OU.com JPG files
« on: April 26, 2017, 01:47:39 AM »
Ever since I updated my iphone and my iPad last week, I haven't been able to view the jpg files that you guys post on the forum.  I can see png files but the jpg files give me a network connection error when I try to view them.  I contacted apple support and it turns out that they also can't see the jpg files at overunity.com.  Is there anyone else experiencing this with iOS?  It seems to work fine on my PC...

Can you see .jpg files on other sites?   If not it sounds like another bonehead Apple screwup.  I did notice that some browsers on a PC won't show all the pictures here.   You might try a browser other than Safari.

Yes, I can see jpg files at other sites but not here at OU.  I'm surprised more people aren't reporting this as an issue because the apple support tech used his personal iPhone (software updated) to try and access the jpg files at overunity.com and found that they too were blank on his device.

The first picture is what I see when I scroll thru the feed and the second is when I try and click on the jpg link.

I did try a couple of browsers other than Safari but they did the same thing..

while I have mostly Androids I have one iphone with ios 9.3.2 on it (to maintain the JB) and looked at the same exact page and post as you showed from Magluvin using Chrome.   It shows all the pictures with no problem.   I'll try Safari.   Apple has f'd something up in their latest OS and I'm sure that's why the Apple tech couldn't see it either.   Or it may be a new 'feature' incompatible with something here.

Same thing with Safari - all pictures show up fine.   Personally I'd never own an Apple product as my primary computer, phone or tablet.  It's all too locked down.   Doubt you can go back to a previous iOS.   Decided I didn't want Apple products when I met Steve Jobs in person 36 years ago.   8)

Well, this still really sucks...  Nobody else with an iOS operating system of 10.3.1 or later experiencing this problem?  I've been told by apple that OU.com has a web development problem.  Please, if you have an iPhone or iPad, check your version of iOS and try logging into OU.com and view the JPG files that are posted in the messages.  Post your results, please.

Thanks,

Dave

Hey Dave, I'm also on an iphone ver. 10.3.1 and can't see any images. Neither in safari nor Firefox. There's a new software update but I haven't downloaded it yet to see if it fixed the issue.

Side note, it is iOS because images can be saved and viewed from the gallery, just not in a browser. I'm not a part of any other forum that uses SMF, but I wonder if it's just overunity.com that has this bug??

I eagerly installed the new update, 10.3.2, hoping that it would fix the problem.  It did not.

How are you saving images to the gallery and viewing them?  All of my attempts at using 'backdoor' solutions proved fruitless...

Thanks,

Dave

If I were you I'd try several different browsers - not Safari.   Safari probably got changed in the update also and it might be more about a browser problem than the actual OS.   There are a lot of other good and probably better browsers for iOS - like Firefox, Opera etc.

I've tried Chome and another 3rd party browser, all show the same issue.  I think it is an actual update within iOS.

I can see the image in the link you provided, webby.

To my surprise, I can also see an image in this thread- http://overunity.com/8796/magnetic-amplification-and-neutralization-motor-by-art-porter/msg507054/#new

Clicking on the visible image link takes me to the page to view it, where it is visible. However, clicking the next image link (of image not visible) takes me to the "network connection lost" page.

Bump  :(

None of my iOS devices can see image files at Overunity.com.  All images give me a blank screen when I try to view.

***Overunity.com has an INCOMPATABILITY with the iOS operating system***

Does anyone know how to contact admin?

Thanks

Well of course apple is going to say it's not their problem and point at someone else.   They have a big attitude.  OU.com doesn't have a web development problem - IOS has an incompatability with older standards - this forum software is simply a free open source software that unlike VBulletin and some other paid software that has a lot of paid employees working to keep up with every new change in Internet languages SMF forums relies on standards that have worked for years.   Apple chose to ignore an older standard and now you have a device which is locked to Apples strict proprietary standards that only works for newer Internet protocols and languages.  Take a look at http://www.underservice.org/  another SMF energy forum and see if you can see images there.  The third post on this page has an image:  http://underservice.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=b3b7dc569653bd22503c7193e0bc0670&topic=255.0
If you can see that than I will back track and say this forum needs to change something but I'm guessing most probably you won't see the image there either.
Also check this page as it has a different method of posting images in SMF and let me know if you can see the 3 images in the second post:
http://underservice.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=b3b7dc569653bd22503c7193e0bc0670&topic=3.0

This probably won't fix the problem but if you haven't tried Opera browser for IOS give that a try.
