Title: Joule Thief circuit that outputs 100v + for Newman motor.

Hi, I haven't gotten any experience with JT's, but I recently read a thread here on the forum about a Newman motor replication where they discussed the possibility of using a JT to drive the Newman motor in order to make it a bit more efficient.

What do you think, and what kind of circuit would be better used?

It would be no problem to design a Joule Thief that outputs 100 V from lets say a 3 V battery or even a 1.5 Volt battery.

But the output of a Joule Thief is alternating current, better said alternating spikes.

The Newman motor needs a direct current source, e.g. a 12 Volt battery and feeds back the back electromagnetic current into the battery.

So, one would have to rectify the output of a Joule Thief in order to drive a Newman Motor and one can not feed back the back electromagnetic current into the Joule Thief output.

Joule Thief and Newman Motor are two different myths and I see no rational in pairing them.
