Hi Brad and all, for a large variable cap check this page:

http://www.sparkbangbuzz.com/els/varelec-el.htm

It can be done by 2 Aluminium foil pieces in Baking Soda water...
Very easy.

Regards, Stefan.

Here's a schematic from Lester Hendershot's generator. Notice number 9, the adjustment key at the bottem of the electromagnetic coils:

Hey Brad

On the home page where we pick the threads to read, the column to the right is the board list 'Resonance Circuits and Systems'. click that and you can make a new topic under that board. I just spent almost an hour with my hot spot not connecting. >:( >:( >:(     Ill look at how we can delete that extra thread after work.

I have an older project to bring to the table on mechanical resonance. But first I want to make a JT resonance thread so we can continue on with that as we go. Just cant get the freq up enough to hit resonance points without the shorted turn, which in turn lowers the other windings inductance and raises their freq. Like I feel Ill never hit those high points with the shorted turn. The shorted turn helps me get to making the batt resonate with some disk caps to lower its freq. But that it so far. The only other alternative is to try caps across the windings to lower the freq of resonance for them.

If you want to make the JT thread today, or ill get to it later today.  You can make a thread on the variable caps. ;) Maybe it would be good to make a decade box of caps with a variable to fine tune. 100uf may be a bit large for a variable. unless you have something up your sleeve. Would be great if you can do it. very interested. ;)
