Does anyone know of a reliable working device that can be used to power a home in a SHTF situation. I have been looking around the web and there are so many devices that claim to work. I certainly cant pay a lot for the total cost which is why I would like your help.

do you mean when the shit hits the fan ? if we did we would all be using it ! but it depends on if you can put solar panels out in the sun or not and you need a battery too. and led lights. Have you tried solar ?

Solar has a high setup cost. I was thinking of a system which is small enough and mobile. Battery storage has its good points but storage cells are expensive.
I am talking about a Shit Hits The Fan scenario.
I have been looking at Tesler and the energy devices he is credited with inventing, but I have not come across any full plans ( detailing parts needed ), but will keep looking.
Thanks

your speaking of a long term situation IE no replacement parts... i would go with something long lasting
and doesn,t require brush contacts. Attach a windmill or steam engine to something like this

Low RPM 30 kW Split Rotor PM Generator looks good but weight wise at 87 lbs plus peripherals its hardly pick up and go. Dont get me wrong I can see its advantages and its worth looking into.

If you have any kind of lights, running machines or such, you will be a big magnet for those who do not. And they will take it one way or the other. Kind gentle peeps will turn into animals very quick when all gets tight. Just check out south america right now and its going to get worse.

I totally agree with you, which is why I am looking for a portable device I can take with me to give me power in a secluded location in a SHTF situation. Or if there is a natural disaster. to keep the fridges freezers heaters working.

nice one. Who said I wanted the lights on to advertise a power source.

Personally I would go with a gassifier and if you set it up in the back of your truck you can run the truck on the wood and when you get to your safe haven you could run your generator with it you will need an area that has wood of course. There is a youtube video about a setup just like that and it works well and there are fema plans on the internet that would get you familiarized with gassifiers.

Thanks will look at that.
