Water Radiolysis
« on: December 08, 2015, 06:13:37 PM »
Water decomposition[edit]
Of all the radiation-chemical reactions that have been studied, the most important is the decomposition of water.[1] When exposed to radiation, water undergoes a breakdown sequence into hydrogen peroxide, hydrogen radicals and assorted oxygen compounds, such as ozone, which when converted back into oxygen releases great amounts of energy. Some of these are explosive. This decomposition is produced mainly by the alpha particles, which can be entirely absorbed by very thin layers of water.

What energy of alpha particles is necessary to dissociate water?

I propose using Americum(241) as an alpha emitter,
recycled from used/broken smoke detectors.
Tellurium is too expensive, and they wont let us play with plutonium..

Polonium-210 does have a commercial licensing, but also a short shelf-life (1-2 yrs tops)

However, for those of you out there that have luckily manages to maintain their license in the free world,
(or might still be working in the industry)
there is this list.

http://www.alphacounting.com/increasing_alpha_emitters.html

as you can see, Americum-241 ranks pretty well on the list, which makes it availably feasible.

Radiolysis for hydrogen and oxygen generation was Patented by Horvath and used on car engine for running on common water. The glass radiation tube was sealed in cell center with water and magnetism applied. Photo and newspaper article was released many years back . The other 2 Horvath Patents have step up or step down transformer in cell center with pulsing magnetic field aiding the improved Electrolysis with spoked electrode. Tested on 4+ 6 cylinder engines . 600watts of pulsing 22Amps current at 10Khz, -- A beefed up capacitor discharge power supply. 22= 300  x square root C farads / L primary coil - 1uf + 186microhenries. 1/2 of the frequency period is the pulse output "positive only" since the high frequency circuit has low frequency laminations core. Pulse  time as 42microseconds DC . Diode not necessary. This was .006 duty cycle of osc circuit . (positive critical slope waveform out without negative side) 40 amps draw from battery to step up inverter. US Patent of 1976 on line read for free 3980053 This design had a special cast carburetor, but plastic narrow cell could be substituted with fluted opposite nickel plates and outside N=S magnets applied. Bipolar transistors changed to IRF and Royer type inverter. Wattage goes up with frequency of same pulse. Original cell had fine mesh SS screen separating two gases evolved . This Patent was unusual that it had nearly all pertinent data , contrary to most Patents.
