Building A HHO Ratchet Piston Engine
« on: May 26, 2015, 11:38:56 AM »
Hi All,

It's time for me to build the first true HHO engine.

HHO is not made for any IC engine, if fact it's wasting HHO just to get a engine  running due to the piston area and implosion effect under load.

This engine I'm building deals with piston displacement of 10.5" piston and a 8" stroke.

Total displacement of 692.8 cu/in.

This is not your average engine, in fact it's a hit and miss type of a engine using some of my ratchet engine designs.

This is the piston I aluminum cast  Saturday.

Why so big?

Lets look at a simple 1 psi on this piston with a 8" stroke.
Total displacement of 692.8cu/in or 0.4cu/ft

1 psi x (pi(r^2))    = 86.6 in/lb of downward force @ 8" stroke =692.8 in/lb
10 psi x (pi(r^2))  = 866.0 in/lb of downward force @ 8" stroke =6928.0 in/lb
100 psi X (pi(r^2)) = 8660.0 in/lb of downward force @ 8" stroke =69280.0 in/lb

HHO will be allow to expand freely and still produce some real output.

This  looks  like  a proposition I delivered to the hydroxy Yahoo  Group a good few years ago. It was applauded by no less a luminary than Eletrik of  Smacks Boosters, if I remember right. But you have to bear in mind that the forces of combustion will be very large and the noise will  be deafening, dangerously deafening. The contraction due to condensation will be impressive but the machining tolerances will need to be  very low through a wide temperature range.  It will  be a slow running  machine and will be a tough build.

Hi Paul,

I don't know about the past forums on this type of project, but this is totally different.

You don't need a lot of HHO to drive this type of engine, one reason is how it's built with two flywheels.

The first flywheel is free wheeled to control the piston linear movement from TDC and BDC.

The second flywheel is the output that is powered by a sprag ratchet assembly.

Lets not forget a external combustion chamber from my other patent.

This will also run of low pressure of steam, air and even exhaust gas from a engine.

This patent pending shows more detail.
