Dynamo Electric Machine - Flexible conducting bands?
« on: February 23, 2015, 10:29:13 AM »
Hi,

I have been looking at Teslas patent #406,968 for a Dynamo Electric Machine.

It says "The disks are formed with flanges, after the manner of pulleys, and are connected together by flexible conducting bands or belts.

I have never heard of a flexible conducting pulley belt. Conductive to me means metal so the closest thing I can think of that is flexible and conducting is a metal chain, like a motor bike has. I'm assuming this is not what Tesla had in mind, so can anyone help me on what could be used as conducting pulley belt?

Thanks in advance for any help.
