So i was wondering what you guys thought about getting an empty fire extinguisher, or gas bottle; filling it with some plates, and somehow allowing the plates to receive an electrice current, whether that be by drilling holes in the side and then gas and pressure proofing it.

Then carrying out a water electrolysis process as per the normal method and just storing the gas as it builds up with pressure.

Lots of fire extinguishers come with a guage on so you can check the pressure anyway.

When the pressure has built up to as much as you need you could then disconnect the power and just store the gas in the fire extinguisher.


Then when it came round to using it for an engine you would hopefully have enough gas to run it and an easy method of actually using it.


My theory is that to fuel our cars, we could simply attach a photovoltaic cell to the bottle and a capacitor and small circuit to optimise the use of electricity.

We could then simply fill this bottle with water and leave it in the sun for a bit, come back to it and its charged with gas.

What do you guys reckon to this idea? I'm finding it difficult to find out the pressure limits of the gas, and exactly what pressure and volume would be required for a decent length journey, and also how long it would likely take to produce enough gas?

First: If you store the hydrogen and oxygen together you are making a dangerous bomb.

Second: Not sure, but I heard hydrogen is small enough to escape true the metal, but I do not know at what rate.

Absolutely correct, Cherryman. And sometimes the stuff goes off spontaneously
or when someone taps the vessel with a spanner.

Never store it. Ever.
